Ardelyx is a publicly traded commercial biopharmaceutical company founded with a mission to discover, develop and commercialize innovative first-in-class medicines that meet significant unmet medical needs. Ardelyx's first approved product for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) is available in the United States and Canada. Ardelyx is developing XPHOZAH® (tenapanor), a novel product candidate to control serum phosphorus in adult patients with CKD on dialysis, which has completed three successful Phase 3 trials.

Senior Manager, Revenue

Overview:

In this role you will contribute to the general ledger accounting functions/processes, including leadership of revenue and gross-to-net accruals and related reconciliations, commercial receivables, and government price reporting. It is an exciting time at Ardelyx as we prepare for the expected launch of our second drug. You will participate in establishing our initial gross-to-net estimates for our new product launch and other firsts as we continue to grow and evolve as a company.

We are looking for a highly capable, responsible, results-oriented individual who will exercise independent problem-solving skills. The Senior Manager, Revenue will be highly organized, experienced in account analysis and reconciliations and have prior experience accounting for revenue in a pharmaceutical company with commercially approved products. They will have a broad-based understanding of monthly close processes in support of an accurate, timely earnings release and SEC filings in a public company operating in a SOX compliant environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Key responsibilities within the monthly financial close process over revenue, including gross-to-net items and accounts receivable
  • Evolve the revenue recognition processes to support the launch of a second product
  • Participate as a key contributor in the launch of a new commercial drug and partnering with the commercial team to ensure our ability to recognize revenue in accordance with GAAP
  • Partner with our third-party logistics (3PL) to manage the order to cash processes from invoicing, cash collection, application, and reconciliation and recording 3PL activities on our general ledger
  • Review receivables activities recorded by the 3PL and instruct the 3PL as appropriate related to debit and credit memos
  • Reconcile receivables aging report maintained by 3PL to our general ledger
  • Review and reconcile government price reporting amounts calculated by our external government pricing service provider
  • Review and prepare analysis on rebate claims processed by an external service provider and liaise with the service provider to resolve discrepancies and disputes
  • Review and implement accounting guidelines for service distribution contracts
  • Prepare and publish periodic customer credit worthiness review and credit assignment policy
  • Maintain detailed process narratives and SOX controls for product revenue
  • Prepare monthly financial close analysis supporting our gross to net assumptions, reconciliations and reporting
  • Participate in maintaining the revenue policies and procedures that will ensure the existence of a strong control environment. Maintain and perform revenue and accounts receivable related internal control activities to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements
  • Prepare accurate journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations on a timely basis for a number of general ledger accounts. Specific account responsibilities may shift over time depending on needs, capabilities and your interests as we continue to grow and evolve over time.
  • Balance sheet and P&L account analysis, review, reconciliation & resolution
  • Consistently maintain appropriate internal controls and uphold company policies & procedures
  • Interact successfully with internal and external auditors and support interim and year-end audits by providing timely & accurate data and communication
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for SEC filings
  • Assist with updating controls including assessing any control gaps and changes in processes
  • Adhoc accounting analysis schedules and reconciliations as requested
Position Requirements:

  • Location is flexible, but with preference for Waltham Massachusetts, Boulder Colorado, or Fremont California where we have offices or concentrations of finance team members
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline, CPA is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of related accounting and finance experience in a public company, preferably with biotech industry experience
  • Prior experience accounting for pharmaceutical gross and net sales at a high level of responsibility
  • Prior experience utilizing systems to improve efficiency and accuracy of financial results. Experience with NetSuite or a major ERP
  • Superior attention to detail and strong organizational skills; strong process improvement and problem-solving skills
  • Picks up topics, moves them forward and achieves results with a hands-on approach, intellectual astuteness, and a way of working which is solution-oriented and pragmatic
  • Seeks out new ideas, sees innovation and reforms as a chance to actively shape change

The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $150,300 to $183,700. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.

Ardelyx also offers a robust benefits package to employees, including a 401(k) plan with generous match, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, equity incentive plans, health plans (medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision) and basic life insurance and disability, as well as up to 10 hours of paid vacation per month, and at least 10 paid holidays.
