The role is to craft, develop, implement and maintain insurance programs, risk insurance management policies and claims processes for the SBU in collaboration with the Global Insurance department. This position is also responsible for contractual risk management, risk engineering and insurance programs for development, construction and operational businesses in the SBU.
- Identify risk exposures and apply risk management, insurance and other transfer techniques to minimize the total cost of risk.
- Support all development, M&A, construction and operations; leading contractual risk, developing and implementing insurance programs that meet the requirements and goals of the businesses.
- Educate SBU people on insurance, risk and claim issues.
- Maintain close relationships with development, construction and operations people to help ensure that all significant risks are identified and accurately considered.
- Remain current on issues and new products developed in the insurance/risk management/claims industry to ensure standard process for SBU activities.
- Supervise performance of brokers and service providers, recommend and implement any vital changes.
- Analyze and report on significant insurance issues.
- Review and negotiate insurance contracts and indemnification agreements for vital changes.
- Leverage insurance brokerage firms and carriers to support AES.
- Assist SBU businesses with risk analysis and budgeting.
- Support all financing and re-financing from an insurance perspective, negotiate and agree appropriate lender insurance requirements.
- Perform insurance claim; investigations, development, adjustment, and settlement.
- Responsible for SBU risk engineering via interaction with AES Global Insurance Risk Engineering team, SBU and business management.
- Primary resource to SBU for internal consultation on insurance, contractual risk management and risk engineering.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of SBU businesses in order to craft solutions or offer constructive consultative advice.
- Participate in industry associations and organizations.
- Run long tail claims, look after insurers and TPAs.
- Support divestitures agree appropriate insurance terms and procure any required transactional liability insurance coverage.
- Any other insurance related duties required of the SBU.
Qualifications
The preferred candidate should have a minimum of:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 10+ years' experience in insurance and risk management
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Multinational corporation experience
