The Sr. Manager, Life Sciences is an individual contributor and part of a defined market vertical tasked with developing and executing a sales plan to grow Mathematica's footprint in the Life Sciences market. Mathematica offers its Life Sciences clients custom professional services engagements across research, advisory, data analytic, and digital services areas. The Sr. Manager is expected to engage in both business development (i.e., working through Mathematica's partnership network) and sales (i.e., direct outreach) to identify, curate, qualify, and close on a pipeline of new account opportunities that lead to repeat business.
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead the sales execution plan for Mathematica's ongoing business development activities with Life Sciences, including the identification, curation, qualification, and successful close of new account opportunities for professional services engagements
- Deepen relationships within existing Life Sciences accounts to expand business and inform internal strategy
- Conduct direct outreach and other presales tactics to grow Mathematica's footprint at existing client accounts and acquire new accounts within the Life Sciences market
- In collaboration with subject matter experts, develop a test and learn approach to inform the refinement of Mathematica's offerings with Life Sciences clients
- Lead efforts to document requirements and oversee the development of sales prototypes and other interactive demonstrations for Life Sciences
- Work collaboratively with communication and marketing staff to develop collateral that concisely articulates the value proposition for Mathematica's offerings
- Co-develop budget specifications and review budget materials for proposals and other client engagements within the Life Sciences portfolio
- Participate in brainstorming and writing activities for technical proposal language used in response to RFPs as well as statements of work (SOWs)
- Deliver pitch sessions and lead other client engagements to win work at selected accounts
- Deliver sales to meet or exceed annual quota within assigned accounts
- Maintain regular contact with senior and executive-level decision makers - utilizing both on-site sales visits and remote communication for assigned prospects
- Successfully work within a matrixed organization, demonstrating deep empathy and commitment to Mathematica's mission and colleagues
Position Requirements:
- 5-8 years' demonstrated experience working in a Life Sciences sales role where new customer acquisition and retention including capture planning, managing a team of business development partners, creating statements of work (SOWs), and navigating the connection of sales and technical project delivery teams pre- and post-sales were the primary responsibilities or
- 5-8 years of experience working in a consulting group where cross-functional technology and advisory services engagements were executed, and professional services sales and business development activities were the primary responsibilities
- Preferably a Graduate degree (e.g., MEng, MS-HEOR., MSc, MBA)
- Expert knowledge and ability to translate that knowledge into strategy and sales tactics in areas like real-world evidence, regulatory studies, and value-based care consulting
- Demonstrated experience selling to senior level and executive-level decision makers in highly competitive procurement environments
- Experience developing cold campaigns and relationship heat maps to understand an organization's power dynamics, and how a prospects role within that organization influences the development and close of an opportunity
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products
- Experience interacting w/ subject matter experts of a high technical caliber
- Enthusiastic, highly team-oriented, able to work in a matrixed environment on a fast-moving, growing team
- Willingness to travel
This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $120,000 - $155,000. This position is eligible for an annual bonus, based on company and individual performance.
