Summary of Position: 

In this role you are responsible for the monthly close process as well as supporting the quarterly and annual financial reporting for the purchasing & payables and fixed asset cycles. You will also be responsible for the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and other general ledger related tasks. Train and oversee activities of the senior accountant and bookkeepers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day accounting operations for the accounts payable, operating expense, accruals, fixed assets, and prepaids cycles
• Responsible for the accuracy of GL coding for these cycles
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of the monthly close process
• Prepare and review month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain internal controls and processes and maintain SOX compliance
• Manage the workload and review work of the senior accountant and bookkeepers
• Responsible for accurate GL treatment of assigned areas within the accounting systems
• Provide technical and operational guidance and support to senior accountants and bookkeepers
• Assist in compiling required information for both quarterly and annual audits as well as Sarbanes-Oxley testing
• Suggest and implement system and process improvements

Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Accounting or related field
• 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience; biotech and public company experience preferred
• Strong financial analysis & accounting skills; thorough knowledge of accounting principles
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required
• Experience with NetSuite preferred
• Independently motivated, detailed oriented and strong problem solving ability
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively prioritize
