Job Description

  • Drive the design and development of hematology software for new product development and sustaining engineering and ensure that all software associates, processes, and products remain aligned with worldwide medical device regulations and guidance while following Beckman's own internal procedures.
  • Lead an organization of approximately 10 resources located in Miami, including all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the hematology software engineering function.
  • Independently own and drive multiple critical work streams; this includes vision/direction setting, overseeing the overall planning and execution toward clear objectives with measurable key results
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership on multiple fronts (architecture/design, code reviews, and incident management) to your reports
  • Review the existing systems landscape and provide guidance on best practices for optimization and automation
  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 12+ years of experience OR Master's/Doctoral degree with 7+ years of experience, including 3+ years leading people
  • Experience with embedded software in an FDA-regulated environment (e.g., life science, diagnostics, instrumentation, reagents, or other FDA-regulated space)
  • Hands-on software engineering skills applied at the instrument, workstation, and enterprise levels, including Windows & Linux operating systems and desktop, privacy, and security, embedded and cloud applications, and the full stack of skills from the user interface, to business logic, to the database, to network, to embedded software
  • Strong C# or C++ and Microsoft SQL Server knowledge.
  • Ability to develop strong teams, strategically deploy resources, and enable positive team culture
