The Sr. Manager, Software Engineering for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for leading a diverse group of software engineers to execute on our innovation pipeline and product roadmap. This is a senior role and the ideal candidate brings outstanding leadership, teambuilding experience, communications skills, excellent technical expertise and creative thinking to the organization.

This position is part of the Microbiology OpCo located in West Sacramento, California and will be a hybrid or remote position that may require occasional onsite activity. Microbiology diagnostics is a growing market due to the increasing need for rapid testing to combat antibiotic resistance. Increasing demand for automation, and new disruptive technologies such as mass spectrometry and rapid testing are helping laboratories meet this challenge. We are focused on continued delivery of high-quality results through our MicroScan portfolio that delivers highly accurate bacterial identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing. At Microbiology, our vision is to ensure we that every patient has access to the right antibiotic at the right time as one of the leading ID/AST companies.

You will be a part of the Software Systems Organization and report to the Director of Software Systems responsible for Microbiology software development, integration, and test. If you thrive in an innovative role and want to work to build a world-class software development organization-read on.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Lead and monitor creation/maintenance of new and existing software products for Microbiology diagnostic platforms and ensure quality and consistency of software deliverables.
• Continue to build and develop a high-performance team working in an Agile/Scrum development environment, nurturing a culture of inclusion and diversity, building a strong talent pipeline and ensuring customer connectivity through an engaged team.
• Partner across the organization to set strategic direction and tactical execution within the business, ensuring quality of our existing and future product lines.
• Define and implement software improvement processes and dev ops direction within the business; set and drive process improvement KPIs to ensure delivery excellence.
• Drive a results-oriented culture with focused urgency, prioritization skills and ability to recognize/escalate issues and resolve key decisions appropriately
• Work with geographically distributed teams and external software development partners

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field with 14+ years experience OR Master's / Doctoral degree in field with 12+ years experience AND related experience with 4+ years managing people
• Demonstrated leadership in building strong relationships and leading by influence and example in a matrix organization including coaching people to enable positive team culture and high performance
• Established track record of success, delivering products in a global R&D environment
• Technical proficiency in development environments/tools (e.g., C#, .Net, WPF/WCF, Python, SQL, Jira, HP-ALM, Test Complete) and development of end-user software products for stand-alone and networked computing environments
• Experience leading projects for medical device or complex instrumentation & control products in a regulated environment under strict design control
