Senior Manager, Software Engineering

SCOPE OF ROLE 

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering is responsible for leading a team of data engineers on a day-to-day basis. This role ensures that projects are being completed on time and meet product / project expectations. A team of engineers looks to the Engineering Manager for process, trouble-shooting, mentoring, and technical expertise. The Senior Manager, Software Engineering will be the point person to Product and Project Managers looking to assign a project to a developer.

This is a work from home position.  Preferred candidates will live in TX, AZ or MN.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure teams consistently deliver high-quality data solutions that enhance NeueHealth's business outcomes and support the execution of a robust data architecture strategy.
• Operate and optimize cloud-based data services, ensuring reliability, performance, and adherence to service level objectives.
• Implement effective processes for code quality and operational excellence, identifying and deploying tools that support continuous improvement.
• Utilize agile/lean project management methodologies to deliver impactful projects and products.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of Engineers, facilitating professional growth through regular feedback and performance reviews, and actively participating in recruiting efforts for the Technology team.
• Partner with NeueHealth InfoSec, SREs, and Microsoft resources to ensure seamless and secure deployment in Azure environments.
• Produce and oversee high-quality technical documentation, delegating responsibilities to team members as appropriate.
• Work closely with product team to clarify roadmap initiatives and translate them into actionable epics and stories.
• Address other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in software development with a focus on data-intensive solutions in a cloud environment.
• Proven experience managing software engineers, ideally with 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Deep experience with data pipelines and medallion architecture, including hands-on MDM data reconciliation work.
• Strong proficiency in Scala is required.
• Experience with Databricks and Azure is a plus.
