Human Interest is seeking an energetic and hands-on Technical Accounting and Reporting Manager who embraces and thrives in a fast-paced environment to join our accounting organization. This is a truly hybrid role working with the Chief Accounting officer and taking ownership of the completion of different financial reporting deliverables and help scale the financial reporting process at Human Interest.

This role will be the technical accounting subject matter expert, build and maintain the Company's accounting policies, and address technical accounting issues arising from business transactions or the implementation of new accounting pronouncements. Additionally, the candidate will champion adoption of reporting controls and improvements thereto, and be a key interface for Human Interest’s external auditors. The role requires an individual with excellent business, communication, and analytical skills, enabling collaboration with various functions.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, desire to learn complex processes and systems, and experienced in partnering with colleagues to drive value and positive change across the organization and with the external auditors.

What you get to do every day

  • Be the technical accounting subject matter expert, build and maintain the Company's accounting policies, and address technical accounting issues arising from business transactions or the implementation of new accounting pronouncements
  • Own the completion of financial statements and related disclosures
  • Assess the financial statement and disclosure impact of complex transactions and draft technical memos to support conclusions reached
  • Act as a subject matter expert for equity accounting and disclosure matters
  • Establish, develop, and maintain the company accounting policies
  • Be a proactive liaison with external auditors to drive timely closure of financial statement reviews and technical accounting matters
  • Monitor, assess, and implement new accounting pronouncements applicable to the company and partner with stakeholders to analyze the impact
  • Be a trusted business partner and advisor to various stakeholders within Accounting, Finance, Legal, and other cross-functional teams
  • Take initiative for process improvements to scale and optimize the financial reporting process
  • Develop and maintain effective internal control over financial reporting, ensuring Sarbanes Oxley requirements are met

What you bring to the role

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA with 8+ years of progressively responsible experience
  • Combination of Big 4 and public company financial reporting experience
  • Precise, analytical, organized, and self-motivated
  • Excellent knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ability to research accounting literature, establish a position, and develop procedures for implementation
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of at the company
  • Strong to advanced Excel skills
  • *Enterprise software and/or SaaS industry experience a plus

Compensation - The salary range for this role is between $165,000 - $185,000. This information reflects a base salary range for this position based on current market data, and may vary by location. Exact compensation will be determined by the candidates' skills, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for additional incentives such as equity awards, short-term incentives, or sales compensation.
