The Opportunity

This position works out of our Lake Forest, IL location in the Core Diagnostics Division. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

The Sr. Manager, Technical Digital Ops & Analytics is a diverse professional with deep understanding of Product Lifecycle and Digital Manufacturing & Processing inclusive of Agile best practices and management information systems. As the Sr. Manager, you will join our Technical Operations team work closely with senior leadership, internal process leaders, and other stakeholders to develop a Digital Lean roadmap and lead area specific transformation programs, playing a key role in the delivery of business information technologies (IT) and manufacturing operation technologies (OT) solutions. You will be accountable for strategic alignment of projects, prioritization, and implementation. This position requires a highly collaborative individual with excellent leadership and communication skills and a passion for delivering value through optimization of business and manufacturing processes by using connected data. The Sr. Manager supports IT/OT team members in their roles, provide coaching and training to technical scientists, engineers, and data analysts. Partners with Operations Technology & Innovation areas to make sure systems and assets are being fully utilized and adding value to their department based on the data and insights they can provide. Measure, monitor, and report on the effectiveness of the change efforts using harmonized metrics; assess and adjust plans for improvements and enhancements to business and/or function initiatives. They assist in team development while holding cross-functional teams accountable for their commitments. They navigate roadblocks, leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for project work, mentor, promote team member growth, support the product team in managing business expectations for project deliverables and help keep projects on schedule. They are also responsible for empowering teams, to ensure that each team member is fully engaged and making meaningful contributions, while encouraging a sustainable pace with high levels of quality by integrating best practices and technology standards across the development teams. They maintain department goals of innovation, quality, consistency, and security.

What You'll Work On

As a member of Operations Technology & Innovation, this role is responsible for upholding core principles, practices, and values, including delivery on return of investment, continuous improvement, self-organization, adaptive planning, value driven development, and LEAN. Responsibilities include:

  • Growth-mindset - Removal of data silos between business and manufacturing environments, moving data from "producers" to "consumers" and ultimately providing actionable insights across the enterprise. Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, self-organization, and diversity. Demonstrate a craving for continuous improvement, thorough understanding of new technology innovation and its application.
  • Team-orientation - Collaborates across organizational lines to establish and maintain effective work relationships to achieve individual and team goals. Interacts with many other OT roles and IT roles as convergence efforts and solutions increase; supports engineering, quality, production management and other key technical functions. Manage, coach and mentor highly motivated Technical Leads, enhance their knowledge of our systems, processes, and their ability to engage others to embrace Digital Lean. Equally comfortable with addressing or interacting with both technical and business-oriented workstreams.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity - Bridging of data connectivity gaps by creatively addressing integration of networks from a mix of legacy infrastructure into modern IT/OT smart factory connectivity. Enable enterprise systems to provide actionable insights based on manufacturing and product performance data. Their work helps break down the traditional siloed nature of data within a manufacturing organization, leading to new insights, interactions, and feedback loops across the product lifecycle. Effective management leads to higher productivity across the organization improving efficiencies and eliminating waste within operational processes.
  • Delivery of financial goals - Supports financial planning, develops, and manages departmental expense and capital projects. Supports use case identification, business case writing and execution. Collaborates with Finance and stakeholders on identifying savings (time, resources) and enterprise synergies (innovations, opportunities) aligned with shared goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience. Business will consider the following: Bachelor's and 8 years; Associates and 10 years or HS/GED and 12-15 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with knowledge management and data analysis
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas in business language to varied stakeholders, and vice versa.
  • Regulatory compliance & audit experience
  • Project management experience: PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP); Certified Product Manager Credential - AIPMM; Certified Innovation Leader Credential (CIL) or similar certification(s);
  • IT certifications: MCSD or other Microsoft certifications; AWS or Azure Cloud certifications or similar
  • Business and Operations software systems: comprehension of and experience with systems such as ERP, PLM, PDM, MOM, MPM, MES, MRP, WMS, integration tools, etc.

$118,000.00 - $236,000.00
