Position Summary As the Technical Writing Manager, you will manage a team of Technical Writers who create user and configuration documentation, release notes, in-product content, technical architecture, and other technical documentation as needed for nCino's Bank Operating System. You will also be responsible for developing and growing the writers on your team as well as setting the direction and strategy for the Technical Writing discipline as nCino grows. As a leader, you set the standard for excellence for nCino documentation, ensuring that we deliver technically accurate, well-written, simple, and customer-focused documentation. You'll work with the nCino Product Development & Engineering team on shared goals and efforts, as well as with other content creators and requestors across nCino.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Technical Writers, including hiring, onboarding, training and retaining
  • Provide clear career goals, motivate employees, define career growth, and build an environment of open and collaborative communication
  • Foster a culture of peer review and feedback to ensure all writing and product content is concise, easy-to-understand and consistent with nCino's style guidelines
  • Develop short and long term goals and strategies to improve effectiveness of the team
  • Drive the documentation planning with internal and external customers and writers
  • Consult with internal customers to understand their technical writing and product content needs, proactively guiding them to define the work for a smooth translation to the team's backlog
  • Contribute and collaborate on other content projects, such as product copy, blogs, and customer related content based on product knowledge and assignments
  • Coordinate and communicate with departments throughout the organization to ensure alignment with the teams mission, processes and work product

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or MIS, or comparable experience, education, and/or extraordinary performance
  • 8 years of technical writing experience or comparable experience with 2+ years of management experience
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, especially the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrable ability to write effectively for a variety of audiences including customers, partners, and employees
  • Technical knowledge of the Salesforce platform
  • Ability to learn a variety of tools, including word processors, collaboration software, and publishing platforms

Desired:

  • Familiarity with nCino Bank Operating System
  • Familiarity with financial services
  • Salesforce Administrator certification
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle
  • Ability to learn a variety of tools, including word processors, collaboration software, and publishing platforms
