Senior Manager UI/UX (Remote)

Position Purpose

As a Senior Manager of UX/UI Design, you will manage the UX/UI designers, and collaborate with product managers, engineers and other stakeholders to define the product design and interaction experience of our digital products. You will oversee UX/UI design from conception to launch across every stage of product development, from discovery and ideation, wireframing and interaction design, and visual design and prototyping. In addition, you will manage UX/UI designer efforts for conducting user research and usability tests, creating innovative, user-centered experiences, user interface and interaction designs meant to enhance teacher instruction and enrich the student learning experience. You will establish and ensure adherence to design specifications and deliverables from the UX/UI designers to maintain a consistent user experience across the platform.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the design of user-centered and innovative experiences in a collaborative team environment.
• Establish user interface and visual design practices to be adhered to by UX/UI designers (e.g., software and formats for information architecture, user flows, wireframes, etc.)
• Develop and ensure visual identity, common user experience, and consistent branding across multiple applications within a single platform.
• Oversee:
  1. user research, using qualitative and quantitative methods to identify and analyze users' needs and pain points.
  2. the development of user-centered, intuitive, and responsive design solutions considering inclusive design and accessibility principles in design.
  3. the design of intuitive user flows and interactions based on user research findings and by considering market segment analysis, and site metrics that drive efficient engagement.

• the design of the information architecture, interaction, and visuals.
• usability testing, result analysis, and recommendation reports.
• the development of conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, prototypes, and final designs to demonstrate interaction and animation of interface elements.

• Participate in product design brainstorms alongside UX and product team partners.

• Present work to the product management team, key stakeholders, and executives for review and feedback.

Job Requirements/Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's or Masters Degree in a user experience, product design, instructional design, interaction design, visual design, or other design and digital media related disciplines
• A minimum of 5-years experience working in UX/UI design, product design, interaction design, or similar role, preferably in a software design based environment
• Must have a portfolio featuring projects that present the design process: research, ideation, interaction design, and final user interface and visual design
• A strong understanding of user research qualitative and quantitative techniques
• Proven team management skills
• Excellent understanding of the Design Thinking methodology, responsive design, accessibility, and inclusive design principles
• Ability to develop concepts into elegant and simple UI and visual designs
• Excellent communication and listening skills, proactive at addressing feedback, represent and advocate for UX and users
• Must have fluent experience with the UX and interaction design tools and applications, such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, DSM, Axure (or), and Adobe and Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Adobe XD, Photoshop
• A curiosity around advancement and trends in EdTech, design, software development, and technology

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing solutions for teachers and students a strong plus
• Champion for a range of users, including educators & young students
• Ability to develop concepts into elegant, customer-centric flows and visual designs
• Contributor of solutions to interactive and user experience challenges
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
• Experience with Agile development practices and Agile management tools, such as Jira
• Experience collaborating with engineers and stakeholders
• Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Frontend development and accessibility working knowledge is a plus
