Job Description

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for supporting the development and testing of custom applications built by the firm and sold via subscription to clients. This includes managing the deliverables of contractor developers, setting DevOps standards and processes, as well as occasionally working on more complex architecture and development.

  • Accountable for the delivery, deployment, maintenance and monitoring of applications.
    • Work to understand business processes to support the design of user interfaces and user experiences across an array of industries in collaboration with business analysts and product owners.
    • Develop new applications or systems based on business needs--Write code to meet the defined requirements, review the code of peers, and ensure security and scalability of the features you work on
    • Provide support for custom built applications to include intranet sites for firm specific systems.
    • Follow technology standards and document work and procedures for new processes.
  • Mentor and coach other teams and 3rd party vendors contributing technical work.
    • Support the growth and development of team members and clients through the Baker Tilly Value Architect model, helping associates meet their professional goals.
    • Recommend and implement cloud computing best practices (serverless architectures, containers, etc.)
    • Enhance development productivity by conducting briefings and demonstrations, assist in the development of training coursework and materials, and perform the training as needed.
    • Create the backlog of tech debt and features, suggesting areas for improvement and enhancement.
  • Maintain and expand knowledge base in area of expertise.
    • Comply with continuing education requirements; participate in professional organizations, independent study, etc.
    • Integrate new knowledge and skills into daily work and share with colleagues as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a field such as Computer Technology or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years prior experience with application development in a cloud environmentNet, HTML, SQL, SQL Server or other similar database experience, JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, Python, Angular, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services.
  • Ability to work independently with technical competence.
  • The ability to prioritize, be attentive to details, maintain confidentiality, and provide exceptional client service is required. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and computer skills required.
  • A sense of urgency and a commitment to timely completion of projects. Attention to detail along with a commitment to quality and confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience mentoring/coaching engineers along with overseeing the technical work of developers from other teams or 3rd party vendors.
