Job Description

Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics is a fast-growing venture on a mission to reinvent retail through robotics. We’ve partnered with Walmart to develop our Alphabot® technology, which is currently being deployed at stores throughout North America.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer plays a pivotal role in representing our Manufacturing Operations during the New Product Development Process. This position is paramount for driving technical conversations, spearheading the manufacturing process development, ensuring top-notch quality performance, and formulating test strategies across our Supply Chain. Being a key member of Walmart’s automation venture, this role demands a duality of approach – balancing both strategic visions and hands-on execution, while setting the stage for exponential growth.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:

  • Manufacturing Solutions: Deliver mechanical and/or electrical manufacturing engineering solutions, including methods, processes, designs, and capital requirements, to meet both new product introduction and ongoing production demands.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work across various functions to extend mechanical and/or electrical manufacturing engineering expertise to both internal teams and external partners. This includes ensuring the development of product specifications, promoting DFx best practices, devising testing methods, and integrating novel manufacturing/testing practices.
  • Technical Partnerships: Forge and nurture strong technical alliances with pivotal contract manufacturers and strategic suppliers. Lead in the selection process and periodic audits of these entities.
  • Quality and Yield Management: Address supplier issues related to quality and yield, guiding the corrective action resolution discussions.
  • Performance Metrics: Periodically present departmental metrics, such as quality ratings, yield rates, productivity, and BOM maturity.
  • Cost Efficiency: Lead initiatives to reduce costs in collaboration with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance teams.
  • Travel Commitments: The ability to travel both domestically and internationally, estimated at around 20%.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • A minimum of 5-8 years’ extensive experience in electrical and or mechanical manufacturing engineering, especially with electromechanical commodities.
  • Demonstrable prowess as a hands-on Electrical or Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer, adept at oscillating between strategy and execution.
  • Exceptional communication skills in a dynamic, high-paced setting.
  • Solid analytical skills with a penchant for data-driven decision-making, complemented by a high-quality execution track record.
  • Expertise in electrical and/or mechanical assemblies, automation, design reviews, DFx analysis for electrical and/or mechanical components, PFMEA, GD&T, and SPC.
  • Proficiency in PLM systems and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Applied experience with Lean/6 Sigma or analogous continuous improvement methodologies in a structured electrical and/or mechanical manufacturing context.
  • Resilience in maintaining momentum amid changes, with ability for instituting standard operations in the face of robust growth.
  • A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
