PURPOSE STATEMENT
A Senior Marketing Manager in the assigned Division is responsible for leading a strategic product category. The role includes planning the strategic direction for the assigned category as well as developing marketing plans, new product/platform roadmaps, financial management and overall responsibility for delivering business results. This role is located in Buffalo at our corporate headquarters re-location available.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
Leadership
- Vision/Strategy: Drive assigned category plans and execution within the assigned Division to achieve market share, volume and profit targets (including responding to trends, portfolio mapping, innovation/renovation activity)
- Provide cross-functional team leadership on planning and project management; is the FSD PCT member
- Manages some FSD Marketing Associates, performs PDP including objective setting, and performance evaluations for assigned direct reports
- Maintain consistent communication with sales, business insights and other resources to develop insight into emerging focused trends and translate into business opportunities
- Owns responsibility for understanding market data, sensory and other insights that will shape the category
Understands the Market
- Understands the customer, competitor, consumer and Rich's capabilities
- Turns marketplace insights into opportunities
- Performs competitive analysis, market quantification and assessment
- Leads Discovery work to generate new products and platforms within appropriate target segments
Product Management
- Product Development and Improvement: Execute innovation/renovation activity against plan
- Product/Segment Knowledge: "Expert" on assigned category/segment within the Division (understand operational capabilities, technical aspects, uses, customer positioning)
- Responsible for the category demand plan, risks and opportunities. Leads S&OP workstream for the category.
- Provides support and solutions to the Product Supply Chain
- Owns pricing for the category and maximizes Rich's value proposition within the assigned category
- Leads and drives SKU rationalization activities for the assigned category
Marketing Management
- Manages Rich's brand strategy and value proposition within the assigned category.
- Responsible for planning and executing marketing plans for the assigned category to drive demand.
- Plans and manages the associated budget.
- Interfaces with external agency partners and customer marketing team.
Financial Management
- Owns and manages the assigned category P&L within the Division.
- Identifies issues and opportunities to maximize profitability.
- Understands product cost structure (perform basic proforma's)
- Develops and manages gaps and contingency plans as required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in marketing or related field required (MBA preferred) with 8+ years of experience in a marketing role
- Proven strategic planning skills in a marketing role with proven success
- Solid financial skills to include P&L analysis and other analyses
- Solid communication skills to include verbal and written capabilities; strong presentation ability including with all audiences and levels of management
- Demonstrated ability in collaboration
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work
- Demonstrated leadership skills either with direct reports or through leading strategic initiatives through projects/teams
- Project management skills to include demonstrated planning, managing projects and organizing
- Experience in the food industry a plus
- Strong PC proficiency to include Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Travel Up to 40% first year
- Bi-lingual Spanish Preferred
