You will be part of a critical team that designs technology that has a direct impact on increasing transparency and protecting truth. You will work with a team of talented firmware and software engineers to create the mobile experience for our existing products. Your experience shipping mobile applications will allow you to rapidly innovate new and existing mobile applications and bring them to market. You will get the opportunity to build high quality applications using the latest mobile technologies available.
Our existing products are already well established in major agencies around the globe. Adding a mobile experience to these systems will unlock even more potential for new and existing customers. Get in early to create the foundation for the mobile experience.
This role provides an awesome opportunity to work on our Fleet 3 mobile platforms for phones and tablets. Check out this inspiring video of fleet 3 tracking a Ferrari! As part of our mobile team you’ll provide the team with guidance and direction to incorporate some of the latest Android and iOS technologies as we deploy our fleet system to new markets. If you have experience working with Bluetooth, Wifi and other device peripherals, especially experience managing other iOT devices then this is the role for you.
Location: Remote anywhere in the US or Canada, or onsite in Seattle, WA or Scottsdale, AZ
Reports To: Senior Engineering Manager
- Lead engineering architecture design reviews
- Collaborate with the Axon UX team to create UI designs for mobile and turn these into working solutions
- Work across the entire software life cycle for mobile from prototype through to commercialization and device management
- Design, develop, test and maintain existing networking configurations
- Interface with cloud and firmware services
- Set a high technical bar for the team through code and architecture design reviews
- Mentor engineers
- Work across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to create integrated solutions that delight our customers
- Improve our Engineering process, including long-term thinking, sprint planning and stand-ups
- Build software that adheres to our high bar on stability and latency in this mission-critical space
- Work with the latest open source technologies
- 9+ years of industry experience (Team leadership and mentoring a plus)
- Strong in one of Android or iOS and able to support critical fixes/issues for both platforms
- Understand the ins and out of mobile phones; expected to lead mobile design reviews as well as the implementation of their designs to release
- Experience working with iOT devices / connectivity over BLE or Wifi
- Understanding and experience with networking protocols such as TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, Websockets (debugging via Wireshark or Charles a plus)
- Android experience with Google IO, Retrofit, RxKotlin, Okhttp, Dagger2, Jetpack (Jetpack compose a plus)
- iOS Experience that demonstrates learning & application of the latest native technology: Swift UI, Swift Package Manager, iOS 16 & WWDC releases
- Experience with modern architecture (MVVM, MVI, etc) including and unit testing
- Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
- SDKs: experience related to Bluetooth, WiFi, Networking, Camera (Photo/Video), Audio, File Management, connecting to and interacting with third party hardware
- Ability to review and integrate with existing remote services (Developer in C/C++ and Golang)
- Experience creating UI wire-frame designs and working with UI design teams

Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 120,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 210,000 in the highest geographic market. The on target earnings range for this role is between USD 150,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 380,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
