Job Title: Sr. Modeling and Simulation Engineer

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Summary of Position:

Alcon is looking to hire a Sr. Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our Development Modeling and Simulation Team in Fort Worth, TX. You will be responsible planning and executing simulation projects in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to support Surgical R&D project teams in the development of medical devices in order to reduce time and expense of device development and provide faster market access to safe and effective medical device technology

Key Responsibilities:

• Includes defining simulation project requirements and objectives, generating statements of work, defining timelines and ensuring on-time completion of projects.
• Perform a wide range of technical work including studies requiring special qualifications / attainments in the area of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Is recognized as an authority in use of CFD with wide versatility of experience and capability, including ability to verify and validate simulation.
• Expert user of Ansys Fluent, CFX, Star CCM+ or Accusolve with demonstrated ability to model multi-phase flows, turbulence, species/mass transfer and fluid structure interaction. Ability to use dynamic meshing and write user defined functions. Experience in developing efficient mesh for complex geometries.
• Collaborate on fluidic system level modeling using MATLAB Simulink and related packages such as Simscape SimHydraulics, Simscape ElectricalSaber, PSpice, Easy5, AmeSIm to come up with basic models. Work with controls and PID tuners are also desirable.
• Addresses unmet technical needs by developing and verifying new methods and techniques, leveraging knowledge of the product portfolio. Leverage subject matter experts to build new capabilities and effectively incorporate into simulation plans for the benefit of projects.
• Establishes effective solutions for complex problems that involve interaction of several technical disciplines using technical analysis and problem solving capabilities
• Develop large models of complex systems involving multiple physics to serve as virtual prototypes in support of all phases of product development, from early stage research, exploratory concept development and confirmatory through production release
• Mentor other analysts and engineers in use of the technology within the context of projects
• Accountable for producing professional analysis summary reports. Trusted to work on multiple simulation projects simultaneously

Key Requirements/Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
• 2 Years of Relevant Experience
• Work hours: 40 hours
• Travel Requirements: 15% travel Domestic/Intl.

Preferred Experience:

• 8 years industry experience in the application of CFD and Systems Engineering for product development
