Job Description

That's No Moon is an independent studio of storytellers and game-makers who believe in the power of narrative-driven experiences. With a diverse team of talented developers, from some of the top game studios in the world (Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Bungie), our shared vision is to create the future of AAA experiences with a culture of creativity, collaboration, and responsible production practices. Our passionate team of developers help shape our studio, our projects, and our future.

Does the challenge of creating a deep, dynamic dialog system for a narrative-driven game excite and delight you? We are looking for a Senior Narrative Designer to own text and dialog in our upcoming AAA third-person action-adventure game. As a key member of the narrative team, you will drive interactive story and dialog in a play space packed with player agency. The ideal candidate has experience working with narrative, design, audio, and other stakeholders to ideate, plan, and implement systemic and scripted dialog for at least one shipped AAA title.

As part of the application process, candidates may be asked to complete a narrative test.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with writers, game design and audio to develop a comprehensive plan for systemic dialog that supports the game’s creative direction and narrative goals.
  • Create supporting documentation, including script templates that help facilitate clear, efficient writing for the other members of the writing team.
  • Research and collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure all grounded, real-world aspects of the story, characters, and world are represented with empathy and authenticity.
  • Support other aspects of narrative, including implementing in-game dialog and environmental storytelling. You may also be asked to attend voiceover recording sessions as well as write, review and/or edit text and dialog.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Previous professional work as a narrative designer for video games is mandatory.

Qualities:

  • The ability to take and deliver feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working and delivering in a dynamic and fast-paced creative environment.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Required for Submittal:

  • Please submit up to three samples that demonstrate your work designing and/or writing systemic dialog for a game. Applicable video links are welcomed but please detail your direct contribution to the material.
