About The Role

This individual is responsible for completing complex spatial and data engineering as well as support critical corporate initiatives that report out to senior management. This position is also responsible for implementing new procedures and process improvements to lead data engineering, reporting, and extraction. Additionally, this role supports both ad-hoc and programmatic analysis, so the ability to do both exploratory work and to drive automation is essential.

Responsibilities

You will develop highly compelling GIS data visualizations and detailed elements for dashboards, KPIs, executive reports. There will also be other deliverables in PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, and Power BI. You will create network models and cost models using GIS and database tools to evaluate areas of expansion for FTTH, Commercial and any other key strategic products or services.

  • GIS data engineering
  • Drive automation into repetitive GIS workflows
  • Validation of reporting data, prioritization of incoming requests, ownership of internal projects.
  • Define and implement reports that transform GIS data to provide insights about Frontier's network as it relates to various initiatives
  • Evaluate GIS data from government sources against internal GIS data to help groom data for use in a Network Planning GIS tools
  • Identify positive and negative impacts of a given GIS analysis on potential fiber network builds
  • Define and design cloud-based network planning tools

Required Qualifications

  • Expert proficiency in GIS software such as QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo, ESRI, etc.
  • Proficient presentation skills required
  • 5+ years' experience in data engineering or related role in data science with an emphasis on Telecom
  • Intermediate skill level in PostgreSQL with PostGIS extension
  • Proficiency in PostGIS 3.1 "ST_" special spatial functions
  • Intermediate-level programming experience required with a variety of query based ETL tools, such as SQL Server, Alteryx, Python, FME
  • Proficiency in cloud-based services such as AWS, Azure, Data Bricks, etc.
  • Proficiency with geocoding and BI tools like MS Power BI
  • Experience in machine learning and algorithm writing
  • Intermediate working knowledge of location point data from various sources
  • Must be able to display expert problem-solving skills as well as be a self-starter
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Telecom Network architectures such as passive optical networks, Next Gen. ROADM, Transport systems, etc.
  • Very strong personal organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment
  • Enthusiastic, self-directed ability to problem solve and interact with stake holders across various organizations
  • Must be extremely proficient with MS Office suite of products (Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)

  • Knowledge of ISP/OSP and COEI processes
  • Bachelor's degree in the following disciplines Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Statistics or like discipline
  • Must also be familiar with data entry and extraction methods for all data warehouses used within the Company, IBM DB2, Teradata, MSSQL, Postgres, No-SQL, and other structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Google Analytics certification or similar proven record of analytics knowledge and application

Salary Range: $100,000 to $207,000
