MITRE's R115 Network Engineering team is currently seeking a Sr. Network Engineer. This is a great opportunity to work in a team environment where you will be part of the engineering group that supports both our corporate enterprise infrastructure and enables sponsor-facing projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Network engineering definition, design, and deployment for MITRE's Network Infrastructure and Service environments
  • Network support for both onprem and offprem cloud-based services
  • Help drive forward new technical capabilities important to our users
  • Collaborate with staff to support quality and maintainable systems
  • Contribute directly to the technical work of one or more projects
  • Validate and test rollout plans prior to corporate release and work within Change Control guidelines
  • Rotational on-call responsibilities and some after-hours work required
  • Oversight of infrastructure artifacts, ensuring designs follow consistent and high-quality guidelines and secure standards
  • Participate in disaster recovery development, exercises, and actual events
  • Maintain systems and documentation as needed for audits and compliance
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively both verbally and written, with team members of any level, both inter and intra department.
  • Strong desire to keep technical skills current and remain abreast of emerging technologies, new versions of existing solutions.
  • Keep abreast of industry white papers & informed of critical software/firmware updates
  • Capable of lifting 20 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 + years of related work experience.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with networking technologies and core Internet protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS-VPN, and DMVPN)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Passion for technology and a desire to learn
  • Familiarity with networking and security concepts/capabilities such as TCP/IP stack, routing, switching, DNS, Wireless, 802.1x, etc.
  • Experience managing/configuring Cisco and/or Juniper networking equipment preferred
  • Basic programming skills (Python, Ansible)
  • Capable of breaking down and resolving customer or network related issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud networking experience with AWS, Azure, Google preferred
  • Experience with Palo Alto, Cisco firewalls preferred
  • Cisco CCNA preferred
  • Juniper experience
  • Exposure to network programmability concepts such as software defined networking
