Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Network/Security Engineer who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing infrastructure used to support First Orion employees and products.

What you'll be doing:

  • Continuously evaluate network/security infrastructure for opportunities to improve functionality, reduce risk, and ensure high availability and network resilience.
  • Design, implement, manage, and monitor network/security infrastructure supporting First Orion employee and productions environments.
  • Technically lead/collaborate with peers, product owners, and leadership to implement/support security policies and technical solutions.
  • Identify, define, and document security requirements, gaps, and recommend solutions.
  • Plan, develop, implement and/or update information security strategy, policies, and standards.
  • Provides guidance to stakeholders and senior leadership to ensure appropriate network security controls, business continuity, and disaster recovery are included in solution design/delivery.
  • Participates in internal and external audits by collecting and presents data to auditors and participates in audit review sessions.
  • Provides guidance and oversight to junior team members as needed for cross-functional training.
  • Maintains awareness of industry technological advances and vendor product offerings
  • Provide timely support for incident response and vulnerability management by collecting relevant intelligence, performing research, providing analysis, and maintaining updated infrastructure.
  • IT service management processes that are performed by an organization to design, build, deliver, operate, and manage information technology.
  • Coordinating/performing deployment/maintenance schedules.
  • Participate in Network/Security team on call rotation.

What you'll need:

  • 4+ years of network/security work experience managing complex network/security environments/processes/projects.
  • Understanding of network protocols and experience with common network traffic analysis techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to exercise good judgment in escalated situations.
  • Technical experience to design, implement and maintain operational network/security solutions
  • Significant experience in troubleshooting incidents with ability to use common tools and analysis techniques (e.g. network sniffers, Wireshark, iperf).
  • Experience with establishing/maintaining configuration, syslog, and backup management solutions.
  • Ability to handle multiple independent or team tasks with attention to detail and work validation.
  • Analytical, process-oriented, self-driven/proactive and accountable work ethic.
  • Team player able to effectively interact with peers, stakeholders, and leadership
  • Working knowledge in the following areas:
    • Architecture, design, and engineering of network security internal/external boundaries
    • Configuration hardening of network and peripheral devices, both physical and virtual
    • Network firewall and IDS/IPS systems evaluation, design, implementation, and support
    • HPE Aruba switching, wireless, Central cloud management and cloud auth
    • Palo Alto physical and virtualized firewalls
    • Design and Implementation of internal and external VPN and IPSec connectivity
    • Digital Certificates, CA and SubCA principles, TLS/SSL and IPSec
    • Understanding of DNS, DHCP and IPAM configuration and management
    • Creation of network security policies, processes, auditing, and enforcement
  • Knowledge/Experience with public cloud (AWS preferred) network security
  • Solid Understanding of the OSI model, routing, switching and wireless protocols, network security, IPv4 networking, subnetting, and operational experience

Bonus Points:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related area of study or active certs: ie Security+, CCNA/CCNP, AWS Practitioner/SA/SSA, PCSNA, ACMA/ACMP, ACSA/ACSP
  • Experience with specific public cloud services like AWS Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, VPC, Security Hub, Guard Duty, Inspector, WAF, Cloud watch, VPC and flowlogs
  • Experience with networking in virtualized environments
