Schonfeld Strategic Advisors LLC has an opening for a Senior Network Security Engineer in San Francisco, CA and New York, NY.

The position duties are as follows: Design, plan, and monitor security arrangements for the protection of the network systems; Identify and define system security requirements; Analyze and solve existing threats and security issues; Configure and implement intrusion detection systems and firewalls; Test network systems to check weaknesses in software and hardware; Maintain firewalls, virtual private networks, web protocols, and email security; Implement URL filtering, IPS/IDS features on Palo Alto firewalls; Develop virus and threat protection systems and implement security infrastructure devices; Develop and implement network systems using Python; Use OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, HDLC, PPP, MPLS, MPLS L3VPN, SNMP, STP, VTP, VLAN, PVST+/Rapid PVST+, and NAT/PAT.

The position requires: Master’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or Electrical Engineering or a related field or foreign equivalent, followed by 3 years of progressively responsible experience designing, planning, and monitoring security arrangements for the protection of complex network systems. Experience must include: 3 years of experience with identifying and defining security system requirements, as well as analyzing and solving existing threats; 3 years of experience with configuring and implementing intrusion detection system and firewalls such as URL filtering, IPS/IDS features, virtual private networks, web protocol and email security; 2 years of experience with Python for the purpose of developing and implementing network system and security; and 3 years of experience using OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, HDLC, PPP, MPLS, MPLS L3VPN, SNMP, STP, VTP, VLAN, PVST+/Rapid PVST+, and NAT/PAT tools for network security.

In lieu of a Master’s degree, employer will accept a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or Electrical Engineering or a related field or foreign equivalent, followed by 5 years of progressively responsible experience designing, planning, and monitoring security arrangements for the protection of complex network systems. Experience must include: 5 years of experience with identifying and defining security system requirements, as well as analyzing and solving existing threats; 5 years of experience with configuring and implementing intrusion detection system and firewalls such as URL filtering, IPS/IDS features, virtual private networks, web protocol and email security; 4 years of experience with Python for the purpose of developing and implementing network system and security; 5 years of experience using OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, HDLC, PPP, MPLS, MPLS L3VPN, SNMP, STP, VTP, VLAN, PVST+/Rapid PVST+, and NAT/PAT tools for network security.  

Telecommuting permitted up to two (2) days per week.

The base pay for this role is expected to be between $210,000 to $250,000/year. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
