Summary This position is for a Senior Network Security / WAN (Engineer). This person will be required to support various LANs, WANs, and a city-based fiber optic MAN. This person should be able configure Cisco switch ports as access ports, trunk ports, aggregation ports, port-security, and troubleshoot LAN security related technologies. This person should be able use ICMP and DNS tools and execute various show commands to ensure proper connectivity and operations. This person should be able to develop automation scripts or / and ensure proper network management and monitoring. This person should be familiar with traffic protocols and ports and have an intermediate understanding of best practice network security. This person will be expected to analyze problems, determine next steps for problem resolution, and resolve network related issues in a timely manner. Please note that this an onsite position serving the areas of 1411 W. Madison (20%) and 35th and Michigan (80%).
This person should have ambitions to advance their career regarding advanced Network related technologies through the pursuit of advanced studies and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide Team Leadership and manage local team
• Provide daily support for the Cisco Core, Server Farm, WAN, and Security modules
• Provide design and daily support for remote locations using various platforms such as Cisco 3560, Cisco 4510R, Cisco 4506, Cisco 6509, Cisco 9300, Cisco 9400, Cisco ASA, and Cisco Fire Power platforms
• Knowledge of NX-OS, Cisco ISR, and Cisco ACI technologies, ISE and Palo Alto
• Provide design and support regarding Nexus 7009, Nexus 5596, and Nexus 2232 platforms
• Troubleshoot EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP routing protocols
• Troubleshoot and respond to security incidents
• Troubleshoot DWDM related issues
• Attend meetings and document requirements
• Open/Close trouble tickets (and change requests) for all assigned work via Service Now ticketing system
• Ability to multitask as well as take a project and lead

Requirements

• Certified Cisco Network Engineer (CCNP) required or equivalent, security certifications are a plus
• College degree in related field and five plus years of experience or equivalent
• Palo Alto experience a plus
• Experience in a Government-centric environment a plus
• Onsite requirement for client needs

Experience with the following is preferred

• Multi-vendor Internetworking technologies (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Network and architecture protocols (including but not limited to TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, BGP)
• WAN technologies
