Senior Node JS Engineer

We know our technology is only as good as our team, so to support our continued growth, we're looking for a Node.js Engineer to guide the consolidation of our backend tech stack around Node.js and related technologies. This is a high-impact, business critical role where you will make key architecture decisions for products currently servicing tens of millions of active end users at the rate of hundreds or thousands of requests per second.
As a Node.js Engineer, you will:

• Collaborate with globally distributed technology teams in the USA, Croatia and the Philippines, as well as with the Product team, to develop applications and improve functionality.
• Shape the coding style and processes of the backend team, and guide the consolidation of our backend tech stack around Node.js and related technologies.
• Create and maintain applications to support a high-demand/high-traffic product; taking requirements, Identifying bottlenecks & potential issues, and creating solutions to fix them.

You might be right for us if you:

• Offer 5+ years of experience building web and mobile backend services using Javascript, Typescript, NodeJS, and related frameworks.
• Have hands-on experience with programming and scripting languages (PHP, Python, SQL).
• Have hands-on experience building, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-scale applications on AWS infrastructure.
• Are familiar with writing automated tests for both functions and service endpoints.
• Have used Redis or similar technology for caching, message, and job queues.
• Have a bias to action with a high-risk tolerance and thrive in a culture of innovation, where ideation, experimentation, and iteration are encouraged.

Bonus points if you:

• Are experienced with various database types (Redshift, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• Have mentored, coached, and developed team members to bring out the best in them.
• Are competent in automation, with an enthusiasm for continuous integration/deployment or Chaos Engineering.
• Offer solid coding practices, including good design, unit testing, peer code reviews, and a preference for agile methods.
• Are familiar with the core concepts around scaling applications platforms
