Software Engineer-Object Storage

Senior Software Engineer with deep knowledge of distributed systems, high end storage systems, control plane scaling and "software defined" as a way to manage all things in every aspect of future product development and management. Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join the Object Storage team at HPE/ Nimble Storage. This is a perfect position for someone who is passionate about the Private and Public Cloud and using the latest technologies and best practices to build the next generation Object Storage system that is scalable and best-in-class. This team will be responsible for the design and develop software to manage an S3 like distributed storage system. How you'll make your mark:

• Work with technical leaders and architects to understand new product requirements
• Create functional specs and other design documentation.
• Design, code, test and debug control plane software that can handle millions of objects.
• Work with other Data Services teams, QA, Customer Support and Platform teams to debug and fix complex customer and internally found quality issues.
• Provide guidance to management and participate in technical communication with customers
• Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the software systems design organization.

About you:

• You have Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• You have experience using C++ to design/develop Object Storage Systems software on a Linux Platform.
• You have experience with private/public cloud and SDK's/API's for AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Products
• You have experience working with two or more of the following: Minio, S3, Software-Defined Storage, HDFS, Lustre File Systems, Block, Object, Openstack Cinder, Swift and Ceph
• Involves ability to write clear and articulate functional and design specifications
• You have experience with implementing/developing features like multi-tenancy and security for control plane software
• Understanding of container and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes would be helpful
• You are a strong written/verbal communicator with good analytical/problem solving skills and able to work independently managing multiple priorities
