Senior Operations Data Engineer
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyze business needs of customers and operations, analyze information systems, and propose data solutions
- Develops,constructs, and develops data models
- Develop data pipelines; orchestrates the data integration; provide on-going support for data related activities
- Cleanses, validates, and ensures accuracies & consistencies
- Enables data mining and robotic process automation between business applications and processes
- Work effectively with data related to different business processes, products, and services
- Create supporting documentation for design and solution specifications
- Partner with developers in embedding data interfaces into different information systems
- Remediate data-related issues during testing with QA and UAT teams
- Collaborate with other reporting, visualization, and analytics departments
- Communicate effectively with various stakeholders (business vs technical, associate vs leadership, staff vs customer)
- Support training, creating user manuals, and providing post-production warranty
- Serve as change agent who motivates end users in adopting new methods of viewing and using data and interactive dashboards
- Provide production support to customers and operations staff encountering issues with reports, dashboards, and data visualizations
- Discovers opportunities to enhance information through data acquisition and integrations
- Perform root cause analysis, and identifying opportunities for improving the different data interfaces in use by operations
- Creating and maintaining a 'playbook' to troubleshoot commonly occurring problems
- Serving as a lead for departmental projects and process improvement initiatives involving data
- Assist in developing strategic roadmaps for key data systems and contribute to project planning
- Assist in creating business cases including forecasting effort (cost) and risk vs. return analysis for data solutions
- Assist with special projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering
- 5-7 years as a Business Intelligence (BI) developer
- 5-7 years exposure to full software development lifecycle
- Ability to reviewing artifacts like user stories, context diagrams, flowcharts, use cases
- Ability to design, develop, and maintaining BI solutions
- Proficiency in SQL, experienced in writing and de-bugging complex queries, stored procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Visio
- Strong communication skills - must be able to liaise with business and technical staff
- Strong presentation skills - must be able to converse with Director-level management
