Your Opportunity

Scion is paving a path in student living and we’re seeking a talented Senior Operations Specialist to join us in executing our vision. The Senior Operations Specialist functions as a firefighter, team builder, and compassionate leader when assigned to a specific property on a temporary basis. This position will assume the responsibilities of either the General Manager or Assistant General Manager. The Senior Operations Specialist will also oversee a team of Operations Specialists. 

You’ll work in a fast-paced environment, acting as the driver of change, effectively taking charge, rolling up your sleeves while in the trenches with the team.  This role demands principled thinking, well-honed communication skills, acute attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of Operations Specialist 
  • Assist Director of Business Operations with Operations Specialist assignments 
  • Track travel assignments for Operations Specialist  
  • Travel with Operations Specialist to provide training and development on assignments 
  • Provide assignment and performance feedback to Operations Specialists
  • Travel to corporate office quarterly for collaboration with functional partner
  • Assume the responsibilities of either the General Manager or Assistant General Manager on a temporary basis, assigned up to 6 months at a time 
    • Assignments for Seniors are generally on a 5-day timeframe but may be extended depending on critical need 
  • Quickly identify critical issues, build, and implement a plan to resolve them, and develop a cohesive team 
  • Clearly lay operational and sales objectives out while utilizing the team to execute these goals
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Regional Manager and ensure they are informed on any urgent property needs 
  • Be a master of Scion policies and procedures, knowing how to appropriately achieve desired results 
  • Leave every property with a plan to get back on track, set the staff up for success, and effectively hand over the property back to the Regional Manager with a summary outlining task completed and an overview of any pending items

What We Require

  • At least one year of experience as an Operations Specialist or a similar role, and three years of supervisory experience of three or more full-time staff  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills 
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Acute attention to detail 
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams 
  • Proven ability to handle, plan and execute complex projects and meet deadlines with minimal guidance 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Ability and willingness to travel 95% of the time, including weekends, when required  

Operational Details

  • Job location is remote with access to a nearby airport and the ability to travel quickly. 
  • Working hours consist of daytime business hours, requiring additional non-traditional hours during peak times and emergencies.
