The team you'll be part of
Nokia seeks skilled patent attorneys with significant experience in patent assertion claim chart drafting, defending, and patent litigation support activities. The qualified candidate should have a history of being a lead chart presenter in multiple high-value licensing meetings and be comfortable delivering charts face-to-face and via video conferencing. We are looking for a candidate who knows how to deliver charts credibly, consistently and convincingly. The candidate should be able to handle multiple licensing projects in parallel and have patent mining experience for assets in larger portfolios. Must be a team player who can work well with other attorneys, deal leads and technical team members. Experience with video compression, video delivery, user experience, etc. preferred. Preferred location - Sunnyvale, CA office.

What you will learn and contribute to

As part of our team, you will:
- Assist in mining Nokia portfolio for potentially infringed assets in technology areas such as OTT, gaming, social media, cloud and networking technologies
- Assist in mining third party portfolios for patent acquisition opportunities
- Prepare and cultivate valid and infringed company-specific technical decks for upcoming meetings (both in-house and using outside firms)
- Lead red-team reviews of claim charts and select which charts are fit for presentation
- Deliver charts in technical meetings with an even keel, support licensing leads Intake and prepare defenses to rebuttals and prior art arguments, ensure consistency of argumentation across multiple discussions
- Prepare and present surrebuttals and add leverage with additional charts
- Work with outside counsel in selecting litigation-grade assets
- Support patent litigation
- Support outside claim chart preparers and/or litigators as needed
Your skills and experience
You have:
- JD admitted to practice in at least one US state.
- Registration with USPTO.
- Able to demonstrate skill and experience in claim chart preparation and drafting, deliver clear claim chart presentations and provide strong defensive arguments.
- Able to use sound judgement and understand assertion/litigation strategy. Willing to work with the Multimedia team to craft arguments and set strategy.
- Ability to travel to attend meetings as needed.
- Preferred work location - Sunnyvale (Dallas may also be considered).
