Position Summary

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll in a timely and accurate manner. Responsibilities include the management of employee payroll data, ensuring accuracy of timesheets, oversight for our T-Sheets time tracking system, management of mileage reimbursement, and accurate computing, preparation, documentation, and on time distribution of payroll via Offerpad's payroll system. This specialist role will review the computation of pay and ensures the company payroll policies are in accordance with the government regulations. Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding employee paychecks.

Essential Functions
  • Own the Payroll processing and track various payroll-related items such as taxes, garnishments, benefit expenses, and other company-related expenses.
  • Resolve employee concerns regarding payroll questions and issues; First point of contact for all payroll inquiries.
  • Compile payroll data such as hours worked, overtime, bonuses, incentives and commissions; monies to be withheld for taxes; employee contributions to insurance and retirement plans; from time sheets and other records.
  • Compute wages and deductions, reviews for accuracy, and posts to payroll records.
  • Update master payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages including but not limited to federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, required and voluntary deductions, compensation increases, promotions, and/or transfer of employees between departments.
  • Prepare and issue paychecks in paper and digital formats.
  • Maintain records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
  • Prepare periodic reports of earnings, reconciliations, taxes, and deductions. This includes weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually or on request.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures for payroll process.
  • Understand the rules and regulations associated with payroll processing at the state and federal level.
  • Reconcile payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments and voluntary deductions.
  • Work with payroll service provider and State agencies to reconcile tax inquiries and discrepancies.
  • Aide in managing year-end employee W-2 and employer ACA reporting.


Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field or the equivalent in directly related experience in role or field
  • 5+ years payroll experience
  • Multi-state payroll knowledge
  • Extensive reporting knowledge and 'how to'
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
  • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently to establish and manage work priorities, activities and timelines to achieve results
  • Exhibits sound judgment and swift decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous real estate experience a plus
  • Paylocity experience a plus
