Job Overview

Reporting to the Senior Payroll Manager, this Senior Payroll Specialist role will have payroll responsibility for Contractor Solutions, the largest segment of the company. Contractor Solutions is CSWI's fastest growing segment with 500 US employees located in 30 states. This is an on-site salaried opportunity and requires an office presence at our CSW Industrials Headquarters located in Dallas, Texas. We will offer flexible scheduling for this position Monday through Friday.

Contractor Solutions Payroll Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle and record keeping of multi-state payroll to support the Contractor Solutions business segment including the review, processing, balancing and distribution of bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls.
  • Deliver superior service to internal and external customers through consistent communications, establishing clear expectations and maintaining strict deadlines.
  • Review timecards and work with supervisors to ensure accuracy and sign-off while adhering to internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with US federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Remain current on new and upcoming legislative changes as they impact payroll processes and systems.
  • Assist in reviewing any changes to employee data that might impact payroll such as new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes to ensure accurate processing.
  • Audit and review the payroll reports as well as quarterly and year-end tax filings.
  • Administer garnishments and support orders to ensure that state requirements are followed, and distributions are made timely through UKG.
  • Address any payroll issues and questions that may arise from employees or within the business and ensure that all parties have been notified promptly of any follow-up actions.
  • Continuously work to identify procedural or processing gaps and recommend improvements that might further ensure compliance and create efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements pertaining to payroll functions in collaboration with the HR team and in-house SOX coordinator. Participate in audits as needed.
  • Work with Sr. Payroll Manager and other Associates to develop UKGPro and Dimensions training materials for new employees and managers related to time and attendance.
  • Maintain 401k, ESOP and bonus accounts with monthly accruals and GL reconciliation for year-end funding.
  • Other duties as requested.

Preferred Requirements:

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)
  • General Ledger accounting; journal entries; reconciliations experience
  • M&A payroll experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience managing a multi-state payroll, preference in UKGPro, UltiPro or Kronos
  • Demonstrated systems experience supporting Payroll, Timekeeping, or HR systems (UKG, Kronos and JD Edwards) including the ability to generate reports from these systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have strong computer skills - Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel (including calculations & formulas)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Participation in payroll and/or benefits audits, experience with SOX audits
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and ability to perform accounting duties related to Payroll (accruals, journal entries, general ledgers, reconciliations, etc.)
  • Ability to deliver superior customer service with employees and external customers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work and thrive in a lean organization
