• Produce outline system designs and specifications, and overall architectures, topologies, configuration data-bases and design documentation of networks and networking technology.
• Specify user/system interfaces, including validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls.
• Assess associated risks, and specifies recovery routines and contingency procedures
• Translate logical designs into physical designs.
• Undertake routine installations and de-installations of items of hardware and/or software.
• Take action to ensure targets are met within established safety and quality procedures, including, where appropriate, handover to the client.
• Conduct tests of hardware and/or soft-ware using supplied test procedures and diagnostic tools.
• Correct malfunctions, calling on other experienced colleagues and external resources if required.
• Document details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration.
• Initiate and monitor actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems and services.
• Assist with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
• Specify user/system interfaces, and translate logical designs into physical designs taking into account target environment, performance requirements and existing systems.
• Produce detailed designs and document all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate.
• Plan and design layout of components/products/circuit boards as well as perform enhancements and modifications.
• Assist engineers in the design and development of complex an detailed layouts of printed circuit boards.
• Collaborate in developing state-of-the-art designs of new or modified, high density, printed circuit boards.
• Work from preliminary schematics, part lists and basic description of the board function, configuration and arrangement as defined by engineering.
• Ensure that designs are free of process defects.
• Perform high-density routing, develop symbols.
• Generate files, reports and electronic PCB documentation.
• Develop methodologies to enhance productivity.
• Update schematics, create fabrication/assembly drawings and prepare document release packages.

• Bachelors degree + 5 years experience or
• Masters degree + 2 years experience.
