Job Description

Alert Innovation is a fast-growing company on a mission to reinvent retailing through robotics. A diverse, driven, and creative team of professionals, we work daily to design systems that are changing the world of customer fulfillment. We've partnered with the world's largest retailer to develop our Alphabot® technology, which is currently being deployed at stores throughout North America.

We're hiring a Sr. People Operations Business Partner who will be responsible for working with company leadership to enable business operations with a focus on team member engagement, development, accountability, and a best-in-class people operations function. This work will include many disciplines, including but not limited to performance management, coaching, terminations, org design and development, compensation, project management, and immigration case management.

We want candidates who enjoy collaboration with others-the best work isn't done in a vacuum, so everyone at Alert contributes to our projects and our own professional development. Our leaders need your insight, and you need theirs! Our team moves quickly, so you'll need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be ready (and excited) to challenge convention and blaze new methods of execution. This role requires you to be hands-on in all aspects of the job.

What Will You Do?
  • Act as a coach and guide leaders at all levels of the organization on performance management, coaching, and when necessary, terminations of team members.
  • Drive org design, title, and team setup conversations with leaders at all levels of the organization and partners in the Director of People operations with progress.
  • Drive the compensation and performance review process for team members, in conjunction with the Sr. Analyst for Data and HRIS.
  • Own the organization's immigration process, including the tracking and management of cases, with support from outside counsel.
  • Lead and manage project work within the greater people operations team, and other duties as assigned by the Director of People Ops.

What Are We Looking For?
  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a generalist and HR business partner.
  • Prior experience in a tech start-up or high-growth environment is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience managing and working with immigration cases including H1B, F1, and Permanent Residence processes, including work with outside counsel.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective team relationships and develop strong and cohesive relationships.
  • Ability to constructively influence team decisions and team workload.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Highly functional with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, including forecasting and data; and PowerPoint in the development of presentations and case justifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, HR, or related field.

Values

All members of Alert Innovation practice the following values as part of their daily responsibilities and model these values as she/he leads or supports their teams.
  • The Golden Rule: Extraordinarily powerful in its simplicity and depth: "Treat others as you would want to be treated".
  • The Power of Person: The contribution of every single person in a company is important, and the performance of the entire company can only be maximized when every person strives to achieve his/her full potential and to contribute to the best of his/her ability.
  • The Power of Team: The Power of Person becomes amplified exponentially when a group of people working effectively as a team creates "performance synergy", whereby the capacity to perform as a team is much greater than the sum of the individual members' capacities.
  • The Power of Truth: We strive to see the world as it is, not as we want or imagine it to be, because only then can we make it better. This core value manifests itself through questioning, probing, testing, measuring, validating, verifying, proving, listening with an open mind, and making fact-based decisions. It also fosters transparency and honesty with others, as well as self-examination and self-honesty.

What Do We Offer?

Alert Innovation offers a highly competitive salary for each job family and level within the Boston-area market in which we are based. Every employee is granted stock options that vest over four years. Full-time employees receive a generous benefits package starting on their first date of employment:
  • No fixed limits on the number of workdays that you can take off for personal reasons, including vacations. You take what you need keeping in mind the demands of your team's workload.
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and 401K + company match.
  • Tuition & work-related training reimbursement programs.
  • Employee Assistance Program to assist with emotional health, parenting, eldercare, nutrition, legal and financial consultation needs.
