The Role

Are you fascinated by the intersection of robotics and artificial intelligence, specifically within the realm of computer vision and perception? We are seeking an innovative engineer to elevate our robotic perception systems to new heights of reliability and efficiency. This role is pivotal in enhancing our robots' understanding of their surroundings, enabling them to interact with the world in more sophisticated and nuanced ways.

The pay range for this position is $185,000 - $210,000 + equity + benefits. Since the company is pre-revenue, we all view our equity as being a key driver of why we choose to work at Miso. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Miso Robotics, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.

What You’ll Do

• Develop multi-object detection, classification and tracking algorithms
• Work on state estimation and multi-sensor fusion
• Formulate problems using statistical machine learning methods or neural network approaches
• Develop and iterate on neural network architectures (using CNNs, Seq-to-Seq models, Attention, etc.) in Tensorflow/Pytorch to solve computer vision problems for robotics
• Explore and integrate advanced deep learning methodologies, including deep pose estimation models, for improved perception capabilities.
• Analyze and visualize results of experiments, test models in simulation and real environments
• Integrate perception solutions with ROS
• Gather requirements and define specifications for machine learning solutions
• Team up on specifications to build multi-disciplinary solutions to perception problems
• Review specifications, designs, and code for team members
• Follow our development process to manage software quality
• Keep up to date on the latest developments in perception and computer vision
• Build and manage machine learning infrastructure for distributed training and experiment management
• Work on scaling and refining our perception system to be deployable across a fleet of robots, ensuring high quality and maintainability of production code
• Leverage synthetic data generation and simulation environments (e.g., Isaac Sim) for robust testing and training of perception algorithms.
• Participate in design sessions with your team to build a shared understanding of the product
• Maintain documentation on the systems you create

Requirements

• MS or higher in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field, with a focus on Perception/Computer Vision
• 7+ years experience in camera calibration/synchronization, object pose estimation, classification, and tracking with traditional and deep-learning techniques
• Proficiency in C++/Python, Linux environment, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience leading teams of developers through the release process
• Strong foundational knowledge in mathematics, probability, and statistics as applied to computer vision and perception
• Strong analytical skills and ability to learn at hyperspeed
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability and drive to collaborate effectively with a team
• Strong attention to detail
• Self-motivated and able to make decisions autonomously
• Ability to work in our HQ in Pasadena, CA.

Preferred Requirements

• PhD degree focused on Perception/Computer Vision
• 4+ years of experience using deep learning for computer vision
• Experience using deep learning for object pose estimation and tracking
• Experience in software engineering practices: specification, design, review, implementation
• Experience delivering a commercial product that relies heavily on computer vision
• Experience working with perception in robotics
