Typical Duties:
- Conduct research, develop processes, programs and equipment to expand fundamental knowledge in the applied sciences and engineering and to support advanced engineering and scientific applications.
- Design and development of Thinfilm coatings
- Research and develop new techniques for deposition processes and process control.
- Manage precision coating lab day to day operation
- Design optical coatings and implement in production.
- Troubleshoot and resolve deposition processes problems.
- Develop processes for handling, cleaning and inspection of fibers and other optical components.
- Supervise and train a team of technicians and engineers in the operation and maintenance of deposition equipment.
- Coordinate maintenance, repair, and calibration for coating chambers and measurement tools, and recommend and implement coating technology that will improve operational efficiency and/or add new or improved capabilities.
- Conduct failure analysis, investigate root causes and implement sustainable preventive measures
- To maintain smooth operation of the manufacturing facility with high yields.
- Provide technical support for current and potential customers, including but not limited to design, process development, and production.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Physics & Electronic Engineering and Master of Science and Technology in Engineering Physics is required.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have 7 to 10 years’ experience in deposition techniques including e-beam, sputtering, IAD and thermal deposition.
- Experience in thin film design and measurement and characterization is required.
- Strong experience with optical thin film design packages like Optilayer, Mclac, McLeod and other similar software
- Will have strong project management and communication skills.
- Proven track record of bringing projects in on time and within budget.
- Must have previous supervisory experience in a technical production environment.

Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
