General Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for partnering with Large Case Sales Specialists to develop customized meeting presentation strategy, slides, and any additional materials to support each finalist meeting. In addition, incumbent will be responsible for providing materials and support to Large Case Specialists during pre-prospecting/market development efforts. The incumbent will work to refine the Unum large case value story messaging and create or improve sales and marketing tools used for client acquisition and retention.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Large Case Finalist and Broker meeting support to include:

• Work collaboratively and in partnership with large case or certified sales reps in developing finalist sales or broker meeting presentation strategy; apply best practices identified through work with other prospects, sales specialists, broker relations specialists, and Unum product teams.
• Identify the support materials for each meeting and audience's needs, innovate new or more client/broker specialized content, and apply tools and techniques to most effectively position Unum's value proposition in comparison to competitive offerings.
• Facilitate finalist meeting practice sessions, coaching presenters on effective presentation techniques and product messaging.
• Debrief with the presentation team after meetings to identify trends and learnings. Work with meeting teams to assess materials needs and incorporate for future meetings. Actively communicate newest materials to the field sales team and with other stakeholders.
• Help position Unum's differentiation strategies for National Client Group's Group benefits, Voluntary benefits prospects, and brokers.
• Pro-actively collect, organize, and share internally with the functional Customer Experience Team and the field, new content produced in the course of your work, or newly identified content produced by other Unum departments
• Act as the advocate for all of Unum's product demos used in sales, client-retention, and broker meeting situations, including planning, support, occasional creation, and iteration of demos based on uncovered needs and trends in the market. Partner with IT or other demo owners to present field needs and improvement ideas.
• Work to identify, gather, and organize employer testimonials that can be used during point-of-sale support.
• Support pre-prospecting efforts by the field, including developing slide decks, flyers, emails, or other formats as needed
• Provide webinars-training to field offices on best practices for finalist presentation
• Provide information to the field sales team on how competitors will position their offering and/or against our offering - help the rep to be prepared for the hard questions this might generate.
• Act as a role model in building relationship with internal partners (IT, Products, Solutions, Marketing, Benefits and Voluntary Benefits) in alignment with the company's strategy and direction.
• May perform other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience
• Exceptional business presentation development and design skills
• Experience with business-to-business sales process and marketing methods
• Working knowledge of large case marketplace dynamics in employee benefits or similar industry
• Insurance or similar business experience in one or more of the following areas: Sales, Client Services, Underwriting, Benefit Center, Broker Distribution/Field service support - Large Case experience preferred
• Clear, in-depth understanding of Unum's products, services, and processes with emphasis on claim management/process, embedded services. Alternatively, experience marketing or selling other complex insurance, financial, or tech products and services.
• Demonstrated consistency in performance over a sustained period of time
• Solid leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees in achieving results
• Strong collaboration, coaching and training skills
• Ability to navigate throughout all areas of the company and at all levels
• Demonstrated ability to be creative, with a results orientation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical and sales marketing writing skills
• Ability to understand Unum's prospect audience, their daily pain-points and industry pressures. Ability to tailor Unum's capabilities and value proposition to the external audience's perspective
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities and deliver within tight deadlines
• Demonstrated project management skills
