Role Mission:Â
As a vital contributor to our Platform Team, the Sr. Platform Engineer is entrusted with the mission of leveraging their expertise in the areas of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, and Security to collaboratively drive the design, construction, troubleshooting, and management of our Google Cloud Platform (GCP)-based cloud infrastructure and developer tooling/workflows. In this capacity, the Sr. Platform Engineer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and security of our platform, while optimizing the experience for our developers and contributing to the overall success of our organization. Additionally, we highly appreciate a platform engineer who possesses an understanding of the data layer, including familiarity with technologies such as Google Cloud SQL (MySQL), Bigtable, and related data management solutions, to further strengthen our infrastructure and support data-driven innovation.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage and Optimize Google Cloud Infrastructure: Oversee the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Implement best practices to optimize resource utilization, cost-efficiency, and performance.
- Container Orchestration and Kubernetes Management: Deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications using Kubernetes. Ensure the reliability and availability of Kubernetes clusters, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Messaging and Data Management: Configure and manage messaging buses and databases to facilitate reliable and efficient data flow within the platform. Work with technologies such as Google Cloud SQL (MySQL), Bigtable, and other data management solutions.
- Implement Observability Tooling: Implement and configure observability tooling to monitor the health and performance of the platform. Utilize monitoring, logging, and tracing tools to gain insights into system behavior and troubleshoot issues proactively.
- Enhance Platform Security: Collaborate with the security team to implement security best practices and safeguard the platform against threats. Conduct regular security audits and address vulnerabilities promptly.
- Incident Management and Resolution: Respond to incidents and outages in a timely manner. Perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and document incident reports to prevent recurrence. Note, this role requires some on-call rotation participation. On-call is a shared responsibility with the product engineering team, and events are rare.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve the platform's architecture, tooling, and processes to enhance developer experience, reduce operational overhead, and increase overall system resilience.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to align platform engineering efforts with business objectives. Provide technical guidance and support to developers, and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Compensation & Benefits:Â
- Base Salary: $127,500-$187,500

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes benefits, and other opportunities at LeagueApps. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal pay parity relative to other LeagueApps employees. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at LeagueApps to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.
