Job Description

Team: IT

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Platform Engineer in Canada.

This role sits at the heart of platform engineering for a fast-growing, mission-driven SaaS organization focused on improving outcomes in early childhood education.
You will be responsible for designing, scaling, and optimizing core infrastructure, ensuring high system reliability, performance, and developer productivity across the engineering organization.
The position blends deep technical ownership with hands-on engineering, including cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production support.
You will work closely with product and engineering teams to simplify systems, improve developer experience, and enable rapid, safe product delivery.
A strong emphasis is placed on operational excellence, automation, and building resilient systems that can scale with organizational growth.
This is a highly collaborative environment where engineers are expected to contribute broadly across the stack and influence architectural decisions.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design and evolution of platform infrastructure, including infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable system architecture.
  • Ensure system reliability, performance, and security through proactive monitoring, optimization, and incident response.
  • Build and maintain internal developer tooling to improve engineering efficiency and product delivery workflows.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring operational stability across services.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support scalable application development and deployment practices.
  • Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and guiding best practices across the engineering organization.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions that balance scalability, simplicity, and long-term maintainability.
  • Requirements

    • 5+ years of software engineering or DevOps experience in production-scale environments.
    • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, along with services such as RDS (PostgreSQL), Redis, and Heroku.
    • Proficiency with infrastructure and development tools including Terraform, Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and React.
    • Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Sentry, Papertrail, or Prometheus.
    • Strong understanding of system reliability, performance engineering, and distributed systems concepts.
    • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives or projects in a collaborative engineering environment.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
    • Familiarity with mobile development, compliance frameworks (SOC2, GDPR, ISO27001), or AI tooling is a plus.
    • Benefits

      • Competitive salary ranging from CAD $140,000 to $160,000 annually.
      • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
      • Remote-first work environment with flexible working arrangements.
      • Paid vacation, personal days, and volunteer days.
      • Strong focus on learning and professional development opportunities.
      • Regular virtual and in-person team engagement activities.
      • Inclusive and supportive workplace culture centered on diversity, equity, and belonging.
      • Opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven platform impacting early childhood education globally.
