The role will be accountable for the development, automation, deployment, and support of Data pipelines, Data Architecture, and Delivery of data services/APIs in an agile manner and must have experience in managing data engineering teams and working with the cloud database platforms. This role will also be responsible for working with executive stakeholders to understand their needs and then leading your team in building out various Data solutions that solve business problems. The role will be the engineering conduit between the Project, Product, and business platform stakeholders and external Data delivery partners and is accountable for successfully delivering the Data related parts of a project. The role plays a pivotal role to the timely implementation and success of any Data related project. Job Responsibilities • Lead a team building scalable data solutions on cloud data platform (databricks lakehouse platform is a plus) • Hire, coach, mentor, provide feedback, and lead your team by example • Demonstrate sound engineering skill by directly contributing code when needed • Effectively set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders • Advocate modern, agile software development practices • Ensure that your team delivers excellent products that users love by maintaining a culture of quality and engineering excellence • Support the process of documenting business requirements/user stories from stakeholders. • Partner with Agile project manager to support prioritization of the requirements catalogue/user story backlog, creation of detailed project plans, sprint backlogs and agile ceremonies • Oversee and control the delivery of project activity across the business. • Drive the projects to completion, including re-planning and finding alternative approaches to overcome obstacles to project progress. • Identify, assess, and appropriately mitigate risk to project delivery. • Delivery of all projects within the prescribed governance structure. • Building, tracking, maintaining, and reporting of project budgets and forecasts. - Manage 3rd party Data providers (where applicable). EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: - Min 10 years work experience in successful delivery of complex data related projects end to end. - A software engineering background, preferably with Python/PySpark with strong SQL experience - Experience in Agile or DataOps delivery, quality practices, techniques and tools at all layers of data engineering - Tech-savvy and good understanding of recent technologies incl. Python, SQL, AWS cloud, API, inclusion of unstructured data, business intelligence tools. - Familiarity with JIRA and other prioritization tools - Excellent communication and coordination skills - Comfortable with changing and flexible requirements from business owner - Customer oriented attitude - High degree of self-motivation
