As a Senior Pre-Employment Specialist, you play a vital role in the human resources function by managing the pre-employment process to ensure the efficient and thorough assessment of potential candidates. Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to providing a positive candidate experience are crucial for success in this role.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinate and conduct pre-employment checks, including reference checks, employment verification, and background checks through collaboration with external vendors, and as necessary, follow up with candidates to obtain required information.
- Collaborate with relevant teams including Talent Acquisition, Legal and local HR to continuously improve the pre-employment screening and adverse action processes. Recommend and implement enhancements to streamline and enhance the efficiency and consistency of the workflow
- Strive to provide a positive and professional experience for candidates and internal stakeholders throughout the pre-employment process. Establish channels to communicate with candidates to explain pre-employment requirements and gather necessary information. Set expectations, and provide updates where necessary, to internal stakeholders including Talent Acquisition, hiring managers and HR Business Partner(s).
- Evaluate pre-employment screening results to determine whether adverse action is warranted based on EEOC standards relative to the candidate's performance of the specific job duties.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of pre-employment activities. Ensure all documentation complies with company policies and relevant regulations.
- Work closely with the onboarding team to facilitate a seamless transition from the pre-employment phase to the onboarding process.
- Adjudicate background screening reports to establish standards following a set process and controls to mitigate risk while using sound judgment and escalating as appropriate
- Recognize opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the user experience throughout the screening process, and proactively seek and suggest solutions to leadership
- Engage in dialogue on a regular basis with managers and representatives at contractor facilities, various U. S. Government organizations, and law enforcement agencies to develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
- Adapt to changing situations and environments as they occur and be able to interact with people from all walks of life and socioeconomic levels
Under This Roof, We Require
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in Human Resources or a related role; manufacturing experience a plus.
- Internal candidates must have 3-4 years working at GAF and 3+ years experience in an employee relations function.
- Must have a working knowledge of Human Resources and HR tools/systems (Workday, ATS/PeopleSoft, ServiceNow HR, ADP) in a multifaceted environment with COEs, systems and vendor interface.
- Background/experience in working in a shared services function, preferred
- Knowledge of pre-employment screening processes and best practices
- Experience with analyzing/reviewing background checks and employment screens to determine action
- Prior experience in EEOC Analysis for job relatedness
- Familiarity with relevant employment laws and regulations
