Senior Principal Engineer - Design Transfer

This role leads design transfer of new Intraocular Devices (IOD) products from R&D to the product manufacturing sites. This position is responsible for Design Transfer, which role ensures that manufactured devices are repeatedly and reliably produced within product and process capabilities. The role provides direct representation on Core Teams, and leads a sub team(s) encapsulating knowledge about the new device into product specifications.

Job Description

• Leads planning, development, and execution of designs transferring into manufacturing.
• Applies advanced level engineering principles to problems characterized by high technical, executional, and organizational complexity.
• Gains and maintains an understanding of how the needs of other parts of the business and aspects of the external environment may impact their area of responsibility.
• Supports engineering decision-making by providing expert input and making recommendations to global project teams.
• Directs output of sub team(s), project or business activity, often across locations.
• Provides leadership direction by determining and developing approaches to solve very complex problems.
• Leads design reviews, assigns and reviews action items or delegates these tasks.
• Ensures regulatory / statutory / legislative compliance for all project work.
• Acts as a mentor in the engineering organization.

• Preferred Experience: 8+ Years of Medical Device Experience, relevant experience in Optics, Automation, and/or Process Development

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
• 7 Years of Relevant Experience
• Work hours: M-F, standard
• Travel Requirements: 10%
