Position Summary

Caribou Thunder is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Principal Network Engineer to join our team. You will be a key contributor to our network communications systems' design and planning.


Your role will involve providing intricate specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture, hardware and software selection, and implementation techniques. By leveraging your technical expertise, you will create efficient solutions to meet our business needs while ensuring present and future capacity requirements.

As a Senior Principal Network Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, planning, and optimization of our network communications systems. You will be responsible for providing precise specifications and detailed schematics that guide network architecture decisions.

  • Your expertise will be instrumental in selecting the most suitable hardware and software solutions and implementing efficient techniques to address our evolving business requirements and capacity demands.
  • You will take charge of testing network designs to ensure their effectiveness and functionality.
  • Your deep technical knowledge will span across various network and computer hardware and software components, including routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gateways.
  • Evaluating and reporting on emerging communication technologies to enhance network capabilities will also be part of your responsibilities.
  • Design and plan network communications systems, providing detailed schematics for architecture.
  • Offer specifications for hardware and software selection, considering efficient implementation techniques.
  • Conduct testing of network designs to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Maintain technical expertise in network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing.
  • Evaluate and report on new communication technologies to enhance network capabilities.
  • Support lab operations during ground test execution with rapid response.
  • Debug configurations within the DevSecOps environment for custom modeling and simulation software.
  • Apply knowledge of network testing methodologies using routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with TCP/IP behavior, routing protocols, and network traffic analysis.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current Security + certification.
  • Basic knowledge of network testing methodologies using routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP behavior, network communications, and routing protocols, network traffic analysis, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Certifications in the industry vendor (Cisco or Juniper)
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.
  • Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with sustainment of OPIR mission networks like BOA and SBIRS.
  • Experience with configuration and integration of cyber security tools like EMass and HBSS.
  • Experience deploying systems into an operational network with CM measures.
