Your Team

Baxter provides one of the broadest Parenteral Nutrition portfolios globally, which includes premix IV solutions, vitamins, lipids, pharmacy workflow management, labeling, compounding technology, and enteral nutrition syringes and accessories. The Clinical Nutrition Device team manages a portfolio of devices and technology solutions to facilitate automated and manual compounding, and pharmacy workflows.

As a Senior Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering innovative healthcare solutions in alignment with the Clinical Nutrition strategic direction and operational priorities. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of standard engineering techniques and can effectively apply them to development efforts for new and existing products in the clinical nutrition portfolio.

What you'll be doing

  • Planning and execution of a workstream or defined piece of a larger project on a platform. This includes constructing and managing project schedules, leading execution teams and performing execution tasks, interfacing with development groups and technical support groups.
  • Devising new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and able to propose alternative solutions.
  • Collaborating with internal cross functional teams, end users, and third party contacts to design, develop, document and maintain software deliverables for various projects for both embedded and application software.
  • Applying system engineering principles, methods, and techniques, including Requirements Management, Risk Management, Verification, and Configuration Management to software/device development.
  • Lead design verification and validation activities and drive test automation initiatives for the Clinical Nutrition Portfolio.
  • Supporting Cybersecurity assessments and defect management.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 8-10 years of related experience required.
  • Experience in constructing and managing project schedules and leading global execution teams.
  • Experience in applying system engineering principles, methods, and techniques, including Requirements Management, Risk Management, Verification, and Configuration Management.
  • Experience as a Verification Lead with strong verification and validation skills.
  • Experience in converting manual test cases over to test automation.
  • Strong communicator and can effectively lead and collaborate with global cross-functional teams and 3rd party execution teams.
  • Experience in medical device development.
  • Solid technical understanding of the principles and procedures of software engineering (e.g. SDLC, IEC 62304, CMMI, Agile).

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $80,000 to $180,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
