Senior Principal Technical Program Manager - Data Platform

You will shape a modern technical program management organization. The goal is to steer us through growth and remove barriers in the journey towards our long-term goals. You will have a unique challenge of finding agreement by creating guardrails and removing barriers to help our teams accelerate. As a cloud service provider, we build resilience into our systems to ensure service and data availability for our customers in the event of failures in system components. However, even the best systems have to have a disaster recovery plan.
We're hiring a Senior Principal Technical Program Manager for Core Data Services, reporting to our Head of Technical Program Management within our Data Platform TPM team. You are a TPM with a background in Core Data and related Infrastructure.
Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $230,900 - $307,800
Zone B: $207,800 - $277,100
Zone C: $191,700 - $255,500
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

What you'll do:
- Be a single point technical owner for our Hydra platform that allows other Atlassian teams to store, enrich or search data.
- Understand how Hydra provides many tools/services to help teams build ETL (Extract Transform Load) pipeline from start to finish and working across the company to prioritize and delivery to our internal customer needs.
- Understand business objectives and translate them into technical systems problems that need to be prioritized solved in the current business environment.
- Define specific systems programs and create a plan of action for realizing those programs. Such programs could be around reliability improvements and more.
- Use your technical understanding of Atlassian and related systems to partner with and influence engineers and architects in making progress on these problems.
- Responsible for taking a systematic approach to engineering problems. This includes: prioritizing tasks, scoping out the project, defining objectives, and making consistent progress against each of these.
- Be accountable for the success of these technical programs by managing the entire lifecycle from initiation to forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, etc.
- Manage complex dependencies and projects with a broad scope across the company
- Collaborate with functions across the company to create reliable and cost-effective disaster recovery solutions for all of
Your background
- BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of leadership experience on software teams as Development Manager or TPM
- Experience using multiple types of Datastores including S3, DynamoDB, and Elasticsearch
- Experience with GraphQL, Kafka, and Flink
- Experience leading projects spanning multiple teams
- Create and implement the schedule
- Make important decisions to keep project on track
- Manage risks and dependencies
- Communicate with partners
- Experience with Agile software development processes
