As a Senior Principal UX Designer supporting the Engineering Medical/Product Development team, you will be trusted to integrate a connected experience of best-in-class surgical instrumentation GUIs at Lake Forest, CA or Fort Worth, TX.

Alcon is seeking an experienced UX Strategist with expertise in the medical device industry and user focused design to integrate a connected experience of best-in-class surgical instrumentation GUIs. Products range from pre/post-op web-based apps, desktop apps, diagnostic devices, to intra-op surgical devices. The successful candidate will be an instrumental leader in producing best in class medical products within the eye care industry, helping the world to see brilliantly.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Gathers discovery information/product requirements/user data from project stake holders to build UX research materials like journey maps and personas
• Collaborate with commercial/franchise leaders, R&D product leads, HFE, clinical experts, and users to define user needs and build a consistent vision and brand of ophthalmic surgical instrumentation
• Create UX roadmap of UX features for UX design development of surgical products with business partners.
• Define/lead UX vision of integrated experience project plan to product teams and their UX design support for implementation.
• Support CX lead in research plans and user testing
• Provides HCI/usability/accessibility direction on UX designs to ensure best practices are followed.
• Understands stakeholder's needs and roles within the project to appropriately communicate different types of information and know who should be involved in collaborative discussions.
• Compliance to all applicable standards including IEC, ISO an ANSI governing styling, colors, alarms and functions
• Open to flexible hour to meet with stakeholders in US and Europe virtually

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
• 7 Years of Relevant Experience
• Travel Requirements: 10%
