Sr. Process Engineer, Joining Technologies

Lunar is searching for a subject matter expert to develop our capabilities in material joining technologies with an emphasis on laser welding. This person will be responsible for developing equipment specifications, running experiments to inform design and process decisions, setting up and tuning processes at both in our facilities and at contract manufacturers, and validating the quality of our products. This role will begin with a focus solely on laser welding, so we are searching for a candidate with extensive experience in this area.

On a given day at Lunar, you’ll likely…

• Leverage your knowledge in Laser Welding and other technologies to work alongside Manufacturing Engineers and Product Designers developing product requirements and the processes/equipment to accomplish them
• Own the development of equipment specifications and lead the sourcing of joining equipment
• Validate samples that we make in house during prototype build phases and initiate process/equipment changes to improve quality
• Travel to equipment vendors to audit their capabilities and buyoff on equipment before shipment (FAT)
• Travel to contract manufacturers to setup processes, perform SATs with equipment vendors, and solve issues that come up during and after production ramp
• Manage multiple projects across several products and be the technical expert in all things related to laser welding and other joining technologies

Desired Skills:

• Deep technical experience in laser welding equipment, fixturing, and quality control
• Knowledge of robotics related to laser welding (robot programming ability is a plus)
• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial); MS in Engineering preferred
• 4+ years in a manufacturing environment developing/improving processes, designing equipment, and/or overseeing equipment rollout and buyoff
• Experience with statistical process control and analysis of quality issues

Our Compensation Philosophy: Our goal is to ensure that all Lunar Energy employees are fairly compensated. Please note that the salary range information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position provided pursuant to the Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act for California applicants. The salary range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is: $120,000 - $160,000 USD.
