This opportunity is within the MDS (Max Digital Services) team with a focus on designing and developing applications used by internal NOV clients as well as customers across the energy industry . Hosted on the Max Portal, these applications provide a streamlined experience within a single consolidated web portal that leverages the latest technologies. The MDS UX team designs experiences that help engineers, technical support, and company leaders understand their operations and equipment and perform their jobs in the easiest, most efficient way possible.

Job Description

As a Senior / Lead Product Designer with NOV, you will leverage expertise in product and process to craft the overall functionality and feel of our digital products, define use cases and requirements, and lead customer research, all with the goal of creating efficient, effective, and memorable experiences which extend across the MAX Digital platform.

Our Senior/Lead Designers work within agile teams, collaborating with designers, product managers, developers, and business stakeholders to translate concepts and ideas into digital solutions that solve difficult problems and support an overall product vision. A successful candidate will be able to apply a deep understanding of UX principles and best practices to lead design for complex, data-rich interactions. Candidates must also be experienced project leaders, able to guide the UX process, advocate for customer needs while considering business outcomes, all while leading project execution.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Collaborates closely with developers, project managers, and stakeholders to research and strategize, from concept to design, the user experience of our core product offerings.
• Develop and effectively share a deeper understanding of our products and users
• Lead UX decisions and processes for one or more projects.
• Actively participate in design discovery activities to help define products and features
• Facilitate client's product visions through research and guided workshops
• Effectively present objective rationale to stakeholders for design decisions
• Communicates the status of projects to clients and stakeholders.
• Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower-level professionals.
• Contribute to our design system; visual, interaction and patterns

Requirements

• 5 or more years of UX design experience preferred; 2 or more years of project leadership preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Design, Communication, or related field with relevant experience.
• Have experience with end-to-end product design processes, from problem statement and comprehensive requirements gathering, to developing user flows and concepts, through user testing and creating refined, final designs.
• Have deep knowledge and experience designing mobile and web applications.
• Demonstrated experience in data-centric use cases and data visualization
• Expertise with using UX best practices to design solutions.
• A solid grasp of Material Design guidelines and framework.
• Strong systems-thinking approach
• Ability to iterate your designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
• Ability to communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
• Experience in software such as InVision, Sketch, & Adobe programs such as Illustrator and Photoshop.
