Senior Product Designer

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to help us build the future of the Metropolis platform and consumer applications. Our goal is nothing short of creating a remarkable, differentiated product experience in an industry that has seen little to no innovation in decades. By joining our small, dedicated team of product designers, you will be able to immediately take ownership and make a big impact on projects spanning our ecosystem of consumer and enterprise products. 

We have a unique product that layers digital, mobile payment capabilities onto existing buildings and spaces. This merger of the digital with the physical presents UX challenges that require a systematic mindset to successfully solve. Not only do we have to design for our digital products, but we also have to ensure that these designs are in dialogue with physical assets like signage, kiosks and wayfinding that we have deployed in our facilities.  

• Collaborate closely with Design and Product Leadership to define features and contribute to the overall direction of your product area.
• Influence the shape of our ecosystem of products using research and data.
• Execute design work using concept and workflow diagrams, journey maps, mockups and prototypes.
• Work iteratively with Engineering leads to design and ship systems-oriented solutions at a high velocity without sacrificing craft.
• Inspire and drive alignment around your ideas by clearly articulating your design rationale to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Design to consistently scale and leverage shareable components for web and mobile applications. 
• Create and maintain thorough design documentation including specifications, pattern use, micro-interactions, and production guidelines.
• Contribute to a cohesive customer journey through close collaboration with Brand Design, Marketing, and Sales.

• Demonstrate ownership: You have 5-7+ years of experience leading the end-to-end design of new products on desktop and mobile. 
• Excellence in design craft: Your online portfolio showcases a human-centric and systems-based approach to designing B2B/enterprise and consumer products. You are highly proficient with design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Photoshop and Illustrator). 
• Design for the present, prepare for the future: You can design and ship solutions that meet the needs of today’s customer while laying a foundation for what they will need in 1-year, 3-years, and 5-years. 
• Break down complexity: You can distill complex problems down to their essential elements in order to rapidly iterate and ship new features. 
• Excellent communication skills: You can confidently advocate for design using excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Collaborative team player: You are excited about working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment. You enjoy working with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $150k to $170k annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base pay is one component of Metropolis’s total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
