Senior Product Designer, Customs
Job Description

We are seeking a designer with a strong product vision to elevate the current offering and formulate a compelling business and research supported roadmap for the future. This individual sets a high bar for UX quality and knows how to consistently execute at that level. As a key stakeholder in the product development process, much collaboration will be required with Senior Leadership and the broader UX team. Customs is a key part of global trade. As the customs team, our mission is to make clearing customs seamless for our teams and clients. Our goal is to automate all regulatory steps and requirements when moving goods across borders. We are working on automated integrations with governments around the world, building smart workflows to automate manual work and build client facing applications to empower them to manage their logistics and customs operations.Â
As a Senior Product Designer on the Customs UX team, you will focus on the client facing applications. You will build the end to end experience for our clients to view and analyze their customs milestone data, manage their product data and compliance information, and help them optimize their business through trade savings opportunities. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to bring the experiences you design to life. After a few months on the job, you will never look at physical products the same way again.
You will:- Work on end-to-end experiences (rather than individual features) and across all design phases (from problem definition to research through to UI implementation).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify user needs, business requirements, shape product design vision, and design solutions that meet both user and business goals
- Plan user research studies, conduct the research with participants, analyze the insights, present the findings, and incorporate them into the designÂ
- Build prototypes to share and test concepts.
- Communicate clearly and concisely and be able to present work in a range of fidelities.
- Give and solicit feedback from other designers to continually raise our bar for quality.
Work across multiple timezones. The cross functional team is based in the US while most of the UX team that you will work with is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.Â
- 5+ years professional hands-on design experience.
- Strong portfolio of product design work illustrating multiple successfully launched products.

- A passion for solving complex problems and the ability to clearly articulate your work
- Experience designing for large data sets by creating intuitive data visualtizations and effectively presenting complex informationÂ
- Experience balancing the customer needs with business goals, and technical feasibility
- Experience working with product teams in a dynamic, agile environment.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and vision.
- For bonus you have prior experience working with enterprise-grade tools and B2B software.
- A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry
