Job Description

The Company You’ll Join

Carta is a platform that helps people manage equity, build businesses, and invest in the companies of tomorrow. Our mission is to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places.

Carta is trusted by more than 30,000 companies and over half a million employees in nearly 150 countries to manage cap tables, compensation, and valuations. Carta also supports over 5,000 funds representing over $100B in assets under administration with their venture capital solutions. Carta’s liquidity solutions have returned $13B to shareholders in secondary transactions. Today Carta’s platform manages over two trillion dollars in equity for nearly two million people globally. Companies and funds like Canva, Tribe, and Pipe build their businesses on Carta.

The company has been included on the Forbes World’s Best Cloud Companies, Fast Company's Most Innovative list, and Inc.’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies. For more information, visit carta.com.

The Team You’ll Work With

We’re a diverse collection of Designers, Engineers, and Product Managers who are focused on delivering a unified experience on the Carta Platform. Because the product platform team works across all of Carta’s products, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across products, domains, and user types. You will be supported by Product Designers and Design Technologists across the organization and will be able to leverage the full range of resources that our Design organization has to offer.

The Problems You’ll Solve

Help us envision the future of the Carta platform. Carta grew through helping Corporations in the Venture Capital market fix their Cap Tables. In a big market with a clear problem, Henry and the early eShares team built the de facto Cap Table solution for Venture Capital. Today, we have a suite of product solutions that help our over 15,000 customers administer their equity compensation plans, manage their investments, and plan for the future.

Now, we’re focused on improving the experience of our customers as they navigate between multiple products, use data from multiple products to inform decisions, and manage their own data on Carta.

As a Senior Product Designer on our team, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with Design and Product Leadership to define your features and contribute to the overall direction of your product area
  • Deeply understand user needs and drive alignment around core platform concepts by creating models, concept diagrams, workflow diagrams, and journey maps
  • Design flows, prototypes, sketches, and test plans for your features
  • Participate in weekly design reviews and act as a mentor for junior designers
  • Design to consistently scale and leverage shareable components for web and mobile applications
About You

We are looking for a strong designer to envision the future of Carta’s platform — someone who can drive design strategy, ideation, prioritization, problem solving, and design delivery. If you are passionate about building intuitive solutions that simplify complexity, we would love to talk with you.

Successful Carta product designers:

  • Demonstrate Ownership & Impact: Have several (3-5) years experience leading design on Product Design teams for desktop or mobile. Have an online portfolio of case studies that demonstrates unfailing advocacy for the user, highlighting:  b2b/enterprise product design, analytical decision-making, and strategic thinking
  • Understand Scope & Complexity: Leverage design experience to simplify complex problems to their essential elements. Know how to create simple and elegant design solutions to complicated problems. Get curious about our domain and strive to become experts in our users’ business practices.
  • Maintain Design Craft & Quality: Create high quality solutions to problems. Understand how to move problems through the ideation, iteration, and shipping cycle. Has the tools and frameworks to deliver best-in-class design solutions.
  • Demonstrate Autonomy & Leadership: Don’t stay stuck. When faced with difficult challenges, find a way to keep moving things forward. Maybe that means finding helpful data or experimenting with a new approach.
  • Practice Communication & Collaboration: Work well across stakeholder groups of all backgrounds: sales, marketing, engineering, product, etc. Communicate why design decisions were made and how they help deliver great user experiences.
  • Understand Vision & Strategy: In addition to understanding a user’s problems today, Carta product designers also have an eye to the future: what will a user want in a year? In 5 years? How can we constantly challenge ourselves to innovate?

We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to providing a positive interview experience for every candidate. If accommodations due to a disability or medical condition are needed, connect with us via email at [email protected]. As a company, we value fairness, helpfulness, transparency, leadership and build our teams around these values. Check out our careers page to get to know us better as you think about your next step at Carta.
