Senior Product Designer (who plays the octobass)

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our growing team at HVAC.com, a brand owned and operated by Magenta Technologies. Reporting to the Head of Product, this role will focus on designing new products with a sharp focus on the highest UX standards. You should be eager for the challenge to dig into the HVAC homeowner experience and bring amazing designs to life. This is an opportunity to contribute to new and revolutionary ways for homeowners to solve their HVAC problems in a trustworthy marketplace.

Note: This job requires that you play the octobass as part of our classical-EDM-gospel mashup band known as “Free-range Pancakes”.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead the design of digital products and experiences for HVAC.com.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and user research to define and implement innovative design solutions.
• Participate in user research and testing to ensure that designs meet the needs and expectations of our users.
• Create high-fidelity visual designs and prototypes for new features and products.
• Establish and maintain design systems, guidelines, and standards.

What We’re Looking For:

• Portfolio/resume website that showcases both your work and your approach
• A relentlessly user-centered design perspective
• Experience with:
• a variety of user research methodologies
• creating design prototypes of all levels of fidelity
• modern design tools like Sketch, Figma, or XD
• HTML/CSS/JS and a technical mindset
• working with remote teams
• building and maintaining design systems
• Entrepreneurial thinking and the ability at act effectively with only high level direction
• Strong communication skills: enthusiastic and clear verbal communicator as well as thoughtful written communication skills
• High emotional intelligence that fosters psychological safety
• We’re an early stage startup, so you should be comfortable operating in gray areas

Even Better:

• Experience in the home services industry
• Experience in SaaS businesses and/or digital transformation initiatives
• Experience working with startup companies

• Operate a John Deere MS11G Series Small Manure Spreader
• Nerf herder license
• Knows the lyrics by heart to “Bad Habits” by Ed Sheeran
• Expert knowledge of rope splicing
