Job Description

Senior Product Development Engineer (Mult. Pos.), Becton Dickinson & Company, Warwick, RI. Provide design engineering technical leadership on cross-functional product development teams during development, design and documentation for manufacture of new and improved surgical implants or related medical products. Apply engineering practices during product development process. Conduct experiments to characterize prototypes and select devices. Evaluate product prototypes with simulated anatomy that mimic characteristics of human tissue and abnormalities. Establish user needs and design specifications, along with clinically relevant test methods to verify product specifications.

40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering, or a related field, and four (4) years of related work experience. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering, or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience.

Requires any amount of experience with/in the following:

  • Writing test methods, protocols, and reports using Word, Excel, and/or Minitab;
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and current FDA Medical Devices legislation and regulations;
  • Utilizing Computer-aided design (CAD) and Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) and design analysis software, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), statistical analysis techniques, and geometric dimensioning and tolerance;
  • Supporting dFMEA and component level dFMEA activities; and
  • Contributing technical content for regulatory submissions.

Up to 10% domestic and international travel required.
